Located 35km west of National Highway 1A, Bat Cave is nestled in a small valley of Bat Cave Mountain, next to the rice fields of the Co ethnic people who live and cultivate their land. The cave system covers approximately 2 hectares and boasts a masterpiece of nature in the form of rock formations.

At the center of the complex lies a cave accessible from both ends, with numerous nooks and crannies, named "Heavenly Cave" because it is exposed to the open air. The cave stretches for hundreds of meters, with many passages extending deep into the mountain, a mysterious place for those who wish to explore .
This is a rare open-air cave, with rocks jutting out to form tall walls on all four sides, creating a cavern. The intricate patterns crisscrossing the walls have led many visitors to liken Bat Cave to a "Jurassic Park".
Over hundreds of millions of years, the tectonic plates of the Earth's crust have left this place with a unique geological heritage. Arches, cliffs, and layers of rocks intertwine among the lush foliage and vines that cover the area.

Mr. Huynh Van Ty (67 years old, a Co ethnic minority, living near Bat Cave) said that the main cave is also home to bats. According to Mr. Ty, his ancestors recounted that there were so many bats here that during the resistance against the French and Americans, many revolutionary bases exploited bat guano to make gunpowder. This also explains why the place is generally named Bat Cave.
According to research, Bat Cave is an ancient cave formed between 530 and 158 million years ago, one of the oldest rock formations in the former Quang Nam province, now Da Nang city. The rocks belonging to the Kham Duc and Nui Vu formations are metamorphic rocks exposed over a wide area in the Bat Cave scenic spot, clearly shown through their color, foliated structure, microfolding, convoluted structure, slip surfaces, young fractures, and characteristic foliated surfaces with gentle slopes…
Under the influence of water flow and rainwater, the slate blocks have been reshaped and taken on many fascinating and diverse forms. This is a rare outcrop in the tropics because it exposes the bedrock entirely, whereas in most other places such as Yen Bai, Nghe An, and the Central Highlands, the bedrock is heavily weathered.

According to Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tu, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thanh Binh commune, the locality has currently demarcated and planned the area of the Bat Cave scenic spot with an area of about 2 hectares. In July 2025, the locality will hold a ceremony to receive the provincial-level ranking certificate for the Bat Cave scenic spot.
“The locality is developing a tourism project for Thanh Binh commune, with a focus on two national-level historical sites: Loc Yen ancient village and the Huynh Thuc Khang memorial house, and six provincial-level historical sites, including Bat Cave. The locality is requesting the city's support to expand transportation routes connecting to the historical sites and scenic spots in the area. At the same time, they are connecting experiential tourism tours associated with the commune's historical sites, including Bat Cave,” Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tu added.
