In the final days of 2025, amidst the lush green cinnamon plantations of Kim Long village, the bustling sound of concrete mixers mingled with the laughter and chatter of the villagers. The inter-village road connecting Khanh Hoa and Phuc Loi was nearing completion, its smooth concrete surface opening up a new look for the village.
Mr. Trieu Cao Bang , Secretary of the Kim Long Village Party Branch, said: “Kim Long village is far from the commune center, and previously, transportation was difficult and inconvenient for trade and commerce. Meanwhile, Kim Long village has now developed a cinnamon growing area of hundreds of hectares, and the need for transportation to serve production is increasing. Therefore, when the plan to build this road was announced, the people were very excited. Because with a convenient road, people feel more secure each harvest season.”

The Khánh Hòa - Phúc Lợi road, approximately 4 km long, passes through Kim Long village. Each year, residents participate in constructing about 500 to 600 meters of the road under the principle of "the State and the people working together." In 2025 alone, over 900 meters were constructed, completing on schedule. To provide the construction site, 10 households in the village donated nearly 5,000 m² of land along with trees and crops.

Mr. Phung Van Son's family is one of the households that donated the most land in this round. Unable to remember the exact amount, Mr. Son simply shared: "Having convenient roads benefits the people in the long term, so my family immediately agreed. We just took as much land as the project needed!" It is known that last year, Mr. Son's family also donated a rice field for the commune to build a road.

According to Mr. Hoang Van Dinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa commune, the movement of donating land for rural road construction in the former Luc Yen district has spread strongly to every village and hamlet in recent years. Despite facing many difficulties in life, people are still willing to contribute their labor, resources, and land to build roads, creating conditions for economic development and sustainable poverty reduction.
Mr. Dinh recalled: In 2024 alone, in the former Khanh Hoa commune, people donated more than 15,600 m² of land, 2,500 trees and various crops, and contributed over 18,000 days of labor to expand inter-commune, inter-village, and alley roads; at the same time, they joined hands to support the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses with a total cost of nearly 300 million VND.
Inheriting that spirit, when implementing the two-tiered local government model, Khanh Hoa commune continued to receive high consensus from the people. Besides donating land for inter-village and inter-commune roads, this spirit was clearly demonstrated when implementing the Khanh Hoa - Van Yen road project through the commune. Immediately after the project was announced, many households proactively handed over the land to the construction unit as soon as possible. Many households handed over the land to the construction unit immediately after the land and crops were surveyed.

The family of Mr. Hoang Van Bai in Khe Pan village is a prime example. Mr. Bai said: “When the plan to build the road was announced, my family and other households were very excited and unanimously donated land, trees, and crops to create the most favorable conditions for the construction unit. I only hope the road will be completed soon so that people can travel, interact, develop the economy, and improve their lives.”
To gain the people's consensus, the entire political system of Khanh Hoa commune has actively engaged with many effective methods such as: diversifying forms of propaganda, promoting the role of influential people in the community; integrating mobilization into Party branch meetings and village meetings; organizing "Day with the People" activities... As a result, the movement of donating land and building roads has not only taken place in a few villages but has spread widely throughout the entire commune.

By the end of 2025, Khanh Hoa commune will have nearly 200 km of various types of roads, including 50.45 km of village lanes (68.7% paved) and 32.28 km of field roads (48.38% paved). These invested and expanded roads are vivid evidence of the consensus between "the Party's will and the people's aspirations," creating momentum to promote economic development, improve the material and spiritual lives of the people, and contribute to maintaining political security and social order.
Thanks to the collective efforts and unity of the people, Khanh Hoa commune now has 13 out of 30 villages meeting the standards of New Rural Area, and 1 village meeting the standards of a model New Rural Area, gradually becoming a livable rural area.
