Besides the host team, 5G Multimedia - Digilife, the tournament has the participation of 7 teams from press agencies in the social network ecosystem of 5G Network, including Voice of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, Sports & Culture Newspaper, Tien Phong Newspaper, Labor Newspaper, Vietnam Law Newspaper, Construction Newspaper, Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper.
On the morning of August 1, the Organizing Committee conducted a draw to divide the groups. According to the draw results, Group A includes the following teams: Voice of Vietnam Electronic Newspaper, Labor Newspaper, Sports & Culture Newspaper, and 5G – Digilife Alliance.
Group B includes the following teams: Journalists and Public Opinion Newspaper, Vietnam Law Newspaper, Tien Phong Newspaper and Construction Newspaper.
The teams are divided into two groups, competing in a 7-a-side mini-football format. At the end of the group stage, the top two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals. The two winning teams in the semi-finals will advance to the cup match with attractive prizes. The two losing teams in the semi-finals will share the third prize.
The Independence Cup champion team will receive a trophy, gold medal, souvenir flag, and 10 million VND in prize money. The runner-up team will receive 5 million VND in prize money and the two third-place teams will also receive 3 million VND in prize money each.
The tournament also has individual awards such as the prize for the top scorer with a prize of 1.5 million VND, the prize for the best goalkeeper with a prize of 1.5 million VND. In addition, to encourage fair play and noble sportsmanship, the Organizing Committee will award the Fair-play Team with a prize of 2 million VND.

On behalf of the participating teams, Mr. Nguyen Vu Tuan, representative of the Vietnam Law Newspaper team, shared: “Vietnam Law Newspaper thanks the Organizing Committee of the Independence Cup for creating a playground for journalists on the occasion of celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day. We are determined to compete with all players from the Vietnam Law Newspaper, in the spirit of friendship, solidarity, and dedication, together with the Organizing Committee to bring the tournament to success.”
The Independence Cup will open on Friday afternoon, August 8, at Gamuda Khuyen Luong football field, Do Muoi street, Hoang Mai ward, Hanoi . After the opening ceremony at 5:00 p.m., the first four group stage matches will take place at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
The next matches of the group stage will continue on the evenings of August 9 and 10.
The semi-finals of the tournament will take place on the evening of August 16. The final of the tournament is scheduled to take place on the evening of August 17.
