The Esports World Cup (EWC) 2025 Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) tournament has ended with a surprising but completely deserved victory for the Mongolian team The MongolZ.

In the grand final that took place early this morning, the representative from Mongolia showed impressive performance, defeating their opponent Aurora with an overwhelming score of 3-0 to step onto the podium for the first time at a major tournament.

This is the biggest title in the history of The MongolZ, marking an important milestone in the team's journey. Previously, despite being highly rated and often creating surprises, this team had not been able to touch the championship at prestigious tournaments.

The MongolZ's title was the culmination of a convincing run, starting with a 2-0 win over GamerLegion in the group stage, before going on to defeat 3DMAX 2-1 in the quarterfinals.

The highlight of the tournament was the semi-final match when The MongolZ had to face Vitality, one of the "giants" in the current professional CS 2 scene.

The team had upset The MongolZ at the BLAST.tv Austin Major earlier this year. In a tense rematch, The MongolZ showed their mettle to win 2-1, opening up a great opportunity to write history.

In the finals, The MongolZ didn't give Aurora any chance. The team "destroyed" their opponents thanks to the brilliant plays of player Usukhbayar "910" Banzragch, ending any hopes of Aurora turning the tables.

With a 3-0 victory, The MongolZ took home $500,000 in prize money. Young star Techno was named MVP (best player) of the tournament, and also received an additional $10,000 in personal prize money.

This is an "unprecedented" success in the team's history because The MongolZ squad consists entirely of Mongolian players, trained and developed from the country's esports foundation. Despite many difficulties in major tournaments, the key members of The MongolZ have shown their mettle and skills approaching the "legends" of global CS.

The CS2 EWC 2025 tournament has a total prize pool of $1.25 million . Aurora received $230,000 for the runner-up position. Team Falcons came in third with $130,000 after defeating Vitality. Vitality settled for fourth place with $70,000 .

According to statistics from Esports Charts, the final attracted nearly 740,000 simultaneous online viewers. Broadcast channels in Mongolia alone had about 180,000 viewers watching. These numbers have affirmed The MongolZ's position as a new force on the global Esports map.

Earlier this year, in an unprecedented move, The MongolZ received the backing of the Mongolian government. Following their resounding success on the international stage, Mongolia’s Minister of Culture, Sports , Tourism and Youth, Nomin Chinbat, personally invited the players to become national athletes.

In this capacity, The MongolZ has received significant support from the government . This allows members to focus on training and participate in international events more conveniently.
