Innovating methods of livelihood support for women with disabilities.

(Dong Nai) - Continuing the monitoring program on the implementation of regulations, policies, and laws for women with disabilities, on the morning of May 22, the monitoring team of the City Women's Union, led by Ms. Bui Thi Hanh, Vice President of the City Women's Union and Head of the City Women's Affairs Committee, worked with the People's Committee of Phuoc Long Ward.

As of April 30, 2026, Phuoc Long ward had approximately 389 people with disabilities (PWDs), of which 339 received monthly social assistance, including 137 women. Over the past period, the People's Committee of the ward has coordinated with various departments, agencies, and organizations to promote the dissemination of the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws regarding PWDs; policies for PWDs such as health insurance, healthcare, education , vocational training, job creation, and combating discrimination against PWDs, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility within the community in sharing and supporting PWDs.

From July 2025 to the present, the Ward's Disability Assessment Council has confirmed 87 cases of people with disabilities, of which 73 have been issued certificates. The Ward People's Committee has also directed the Department of Culture and Social Affairs to update the list of individuals who have emerged after the merger. The process of receiving and reviewing applications for social assistance for people with disabilities has been carried out in accordance with regulations. Monthly social assistance payments and gifts during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year) for people with disabilities, including women with disabilities, have been made fully and promptly.

The People's Committee of the ward also coordinated the organization of medical examinations, rehabilitation support, and home care for 69 disabled women. Disabled children of school age received support for learning and integration. Some people with disabilities received support for vocational training, job placement, legal assistance, and participation in cultural, artistic, and sports activities.

Besides the achievements, at the meeting, representatives from various departments of the ward also raised difficulties in implementing policies and laws for women with disabilities. Based on this, representatives from city departments and agencies provided further information and suggestions to help the Phuoc Long Ward People's Committee better implement policies and laws for women.

Ms. Bui Thi Hanh, Vice President of the City Women's Union and head of the monitoring team, requested that the local authorities incorporate the feedback and supplement and finalize the report, submitting it to the City Women's Union before June 8th.

On behalf of the monitoring team, Ms. Bui Thi Hanh requested that the locality continue to pay attention to disseminating the Party and State's policies and laws related to people with disabilities, especially women with disabilities, through various forms, ensuring that all target groups have access to information. She also urged the acceleration of the digitization of disability data to ensure synchronization, accuracy, and timeliness. Furthermore, she called for innovation in livelihood support methods for women with disabilities; coordination with businesses to expand vocational training opportunities and create jobs suitable to the abilities of women with disabilities, contributing to increased income and improved living standards for women with disabilities…

Regarding local recommendations, the supervisory team will compile them fully and submit them to the competent authorities for consideration and resolution. For issues related to regulations and procedures, the People's Committee of the ward is requested to compile a detailed written report so that the supervisory team can submit recommendations to the City People's Council, the City People's Committee, and relevant departments and agencies for consideration and resolution.
