Innovation in the homeland of the revolution.

In the early days of the new year, we had the opportunity to return to the Muong Chanh Revolutionary Base - a land rich in tradition that is now sporting a new, clean, and beautiful appearance. The Party Committee and the people of the commune are united in building their homeland to become increasingly prosperous, civilized, and sustainably developed.

During our journey back to the revolutionary countryside, from the lowland villages of Cang Muong, Hom Loi, Ban Den, Ban Nam, to the highland villages of Sam Ta and It Ho, we clearly felt the vibrant atmosphere of welcoming the new spring and heard many stories about the effective transformation of crop and livestock structures; the concentration of all resources to invest in infrastructure development and economic models; and the involvement of Party committees and authorities in helping people apply high-tech science and technology to production… creating more motivation for the people to rise out of poverty.

With the arrival of spring, the people of Nam village, Muong Chanh commune, share a common joy regarding the results of agricultural production. Mr. Cam Van Thoa, Party Secretary and Village Head, reported: With 62 hectares of coffee, the last harvest yielded 650 tons, with an average selling price of 23,000 to 29,000 VND/kg; livestock farming is developing towards commercial production, with 300 head of cattle and 1,300 head of poultry; 10 households are developing a model of raising 1,200 bamboo rats. The average per capita income is 48 million VND/year; only 2 households remain poor in the village.

Following the clean, well-maintained concrete road, we continued to Cang Muong village to visit the coffee plantation of Mr. Lo Manh Quyet's family. The entire area utilizes an automatic irrigation system. Mr. Quyet shared: "Our 4-hectare coffee plantation was established in 2014. In 2019, my family invested over 100 million VND in installing an automatic irrigation system, which doubled our yield to over 80 tons of fresh coffee per year. In the last harvest alone, the coffee crop was bountiful and prices were good, resulting in a profit of 1.2 billion VND after deducting expenses."

After the merger, Muong Chanh commune now encompasses the areas of the two former communes of Muong Chanh and Chieng Chung. Mr. Nguyen Bien Cuong, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, stated: With the expanded boundaries, the commune is orienting towards two economic zones. The first zone, comprising 13 villages with flat terrain, will focus on developing small-scale industries, trade and services, transportation; fruit tree cultivation, coffee cultivation, and concentrated rice cultivation using high-tech and organic methods, linked to the production, processing, consumption, and export chain. The second zone, with 4 villages further from the center, will focus on hybrid corn cultivation; commercial livestock farming; and forest planting and protection. Simultaneously, the commune is effectively implementing policies to support and encourage the establishment of cooperatives, developing production according to VietGAP, organic, and traceability standards, and building OCOP products.

Taking advantage of favorable natural conditions, the commune's agricultural production has achieved significant results in recent years. The people have actively intensified cultivation, increased crop yields, and introduced new high-yield varieties, enhancing the value of key products. Currently, the people maintain over 1,300 hectares of coffee, nearly 330 hectares of high-tech coffee; intensively cultivate 421 hectares of wet rice; nearly 200 hectares of fruit trees; and 145 hectares of corn and cassava. Livestock farming has expanded to nearly 3,000 head of cattle and over 40,000 head of poultry. By 2025, the total value of products in the commune is expected to reach 96.2 billion VND, an increase of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2024; of which, agriculture will account for 95%; and trade and services 5%. Education and healthcare are ensured, with 100% of children attending school, the commune meeting national health standards, and over 85% of the population participating in health insurance. Significant results have been achieved in poverty reduction efforts; by 2025, the poverty rate in the commune is expected to decrease to 4.72%.
