The Vietnamese women's volleyball team had a smooth start at the AVC Nations Cup 2025 with the first two victories against Taiwan (China) and Hong Kong (China) with the same score of 3-0. The home players showed their superior strength and affirmed their position as the defending champions.

After the matches, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team showed many bright spots. After the opening match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "This is a very good result. For many years, Taiwan (China) has always played at a fast pace and it was not easy for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team to win by such a margin. The girls did their best."

After the first two matches, what the Vietnamese women's volleyball players did well was controlling the first step. Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: "The two main middle blockers, Nguyen Trinh and Le Thanh Thuy, have only reached about 50-60% of their ability. Of these, Trinh suffered a minor knee injury and has not yet reached her peak performance.

Bich Tuyen and Nguyen Thi Uyen started very well but were still weak in defending the back line. Both still have a lot of potential and time to improve, aiming for future tournaments.

The coaching staff has now identified the weaknesses in each position and is making flexible tactical adjustments to maximize the abilities of each individual. During the two days off, we will help the players regain their confidence and continue to create more opportunities for other athletes to compete.”

After two matches, we can see Bich Tuyen's positive return. In the opening match against Hong Kong (China), she scored 7 points with an efficiency of 40%. After the match against Taiwan (China), Bich Tuyen was the top scorer for the Vietnamese women's volleyball team with 23 points (including 2 blocking points), achieving an efficiency of 70%.

Speaking to the media, Bich Tuyen said: "Regarding my performance in the last match, I think I only showed about 70-75%. Some technical aspects are still not very good. Before the tournament, I had a small back injury and was treated by a doctor. Currently, the recovery level is about 90%. My goal in this year's tournament is to successfully defend the championship with my teammates."

Fitness expert Karl Lim of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team said: "Bich Tuyen has not fully recovered from her injury. Therefore, we ensure that she needs to be flexible in both training and competition to regain 100% form."

A new rising star of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team, Nguyen Thi Phuong, has made her mark. In the opening match of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, Nguyen Thi Phuong was the top scorer for the Vietnamese team. The 1999-born main attacker scored 11 points (1 ace), achieving an efficiency of 58.8%, equal to her opposite number Kieu Trinh (11 points, efficiency of 47.6%).

Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: “There are many positions such as Nguyen Thi Phuong who is joining the national team for the first time or Nguyen Thi Uyen who has just returned to the team. They all did very well and that makes me satisfied.”

Tonight (June 11), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play their third match against India. This is a team that has lost the first two matches of the tournament. This team is on the rise with a squad of tall, resilient and spontaneous young players. However, they have not been able to have matches that bring the desired results. With the current situation, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team are completely aiming for victory. In fact, this is a match where young Vietnamese players have the opportunity to play more.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team entered the tournament with the goal of winning the championship. This is the time for the players to show their class.

Vietnam men's volleyball team announces list of participants for AVC Nations Cup 2025

Coach Tran Dinh Tien has selected 14 athletes to participate in the AVC Nations Cup 2025 in Bahrain. The tournament will take place from June 17 to June 24.

The 14 selected players are Nguyen Ngoc Thuan, Duong Van Tien, Quan Trong Nghia, Hoang Xuan Truong (main attackers); Nguyen Van Quoc Duy, Pham Quoc Du (opposite setters); Che Quoc Vo Lit, Tran Duy Tuyen, Truong The Khai, Nguyen Thanh Hai (middle attackers); Dinh Van Duy, Phan Cong Duc (setters); Trinh Duy Phuc, Cao Duc Hoang (liberos).

Captain Pham Van Hiep will not be joining the Vietnamese men's volleyball team in this tournament. According to the investigation, this setter has not yet fully recovered after suffering a knee injury. Most likely, the coaching staff does not want Van Hiep to exert himself and wants to keep him to prepare for important tournaments at the end of the year. Van Hiep's replacement at the 2025 AVC Nations Cup will be national team player Hoang Xuan Truong.

The Vietnamese men's volleyball team is actively training in Hanoi to prepare for the upcoming tournament in Bahrain.

The AVC Nations Cup 2025 is the predecessor of the AVC Challenge Cup. This is the third consecutive year that the Vietnamese men's volleyball team has participated. The best result the Vietnamese boys have ever achieved was 4th place in 2023.

The upcoming tournament is the second international playground that coach Tran Dinh Tien and his team have participated in since their professional training in 2025. According to the draw results, Duy Tuyen and his teammates are in group D with the teams of Korea and New Zealand.
