Head coach Masahiko Okiyama and 23 players of the Vietnam U17 women's national team have departed for Suzhou (China) to participate in the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship Finals. This is an important tournament for the Vietnam U17 women's team as they aim to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in Morocco.

The tournament took place from April 30th to May 17th, 2026, with the participation of 12 teams. In the final round, the Vietnam U17 women's team was in Group A along with China, Thailand, and Myanmar.
According to the tournament regulations, the four best-performing teams in the final round will qualify to represent Asia at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco 2026. This is an important goal for coach Okiyama Masahiko and his team in their upcoming journey.
The Vietnam U17 women's team will have three days to acclimatize to the weather and playing conditions in Suzhou before the official matches at the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship finals.
Before the tournament, the Vietnamese U17 women's team trained in Japan. They played three friendly matches against high-quality opponents, gaining valuable international experience. In their first match, the Vietnamese U17 women's team lost 0-5 to Fujieda Junshi High School.
Next, the team drew 0-0 with Iwata Higashi High School in a closely contested match. In their final friendly match, the Vietnam U17 women's team drew 2-2 against Aichi Toho University, demonstrating a clear improvement in their playing style and attacking organization.
