The work tells the story of the romantic and adventurous journey of the knight Don Quixote and the passionate love story between Kitri and Basilio.
With the vibrant music of Ludwig Minkus, combined with top ballet techniques and fiery Flamenco dance moves, Don Quixote promises to take the audience to a world that is both real and dreamlike, where aspirations and ideals are sublimated.
To bring this play to the Vietnamese stage, VNOB has gone through many challenges. Director of VNOB, Meritorious Artist Phan Manh Duc said: “Staging a masterpiece like Don Quixote requires great determination, from human resources, time, to finance. But we hope that Vietnamese audiences will have access to world classical art right on the domestic stage.”

The show brings together a crew of nearly 150 people, including more than 60 dancers, a symphony orchestra and a team of professional creative and technical staff. Especially, there is the participation of many generations of Vietnamese ballet artists: from veteran names such as Meritorious Artist Cao Chi Thanh, Meritorious Artist Phan Luong, to talented young faces such as Nguyen Duc Hieu, Vu Khanh Bang.
The two main choreographers are Meritorious Artist Luu Thu Lan and artist Pham Minh - currently Director of La SALLE Dance School (France). Conductor Dong Quang Vinh will conduct the orchestra, along with a modern lighting and visual system, elaborate stage and colorful costumes, creating a top-notch artistic experience. The play carries the inspirational message: "Happiness blooms from bold dreams".
