Many Japanese tourists visit exhibitions and tourism promotion activities in Hanoi at EXPO 2025

On August 16, 2025, Vietnam Exhibition House in collaboration with Hanoi Department of Tourism organized the opening ceremony of the program "Hanoi Tourism Days at EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan".

In his opening speech, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Tran Trung Hieu affirmed that Hanoi city always prioritizes and focuses resources on developing the tourism industry in a professional direction with diverse and attractive products.

With significant contributions to the city's GRDP, Tourism continues to affirm its role as a key economic sector with great influence in the capital city of Hanoi. Regarding cooperation with Japan, Mr. Tran Trung Hieu emphasized that over the years, Hanoi and Japanese provinces and cities, including Osaka, have had a deep and comprehensive cooperative relationship in many fields, especially tourism development cooperation.

The program "Hanoi Tourism Days" at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan" is a good opportunity to widely promote the image of "Hanoi - City for Peace", "Creative City" to tourists and international friends, and at the same time is an opportunity for the two sides to promote tourism cooperation between Hanoi and Osaka to develop strongly, effectively and sustainably. In recent years, with many customer segments, interests in cultural heritage, history, craft villages, cuisine and night tourism products, Japan in general and Osaka city in particular have always been the leading market sending visitors to Vietnam, of which Hanoi welcomed 270,000 Japanese visitors in 2024.

In his welcoming speech, Mr. Ngo Trinh Ha, Consul General of Vietnam in Osaka, emphasized that Vietnam and Japan have built a close cooperative relationship in many fields such as tourism, culture, education and heritage conservation. Japan is one of Vietnam's most important tourism partners, with more than 1.3 million visitors annually, demonstrating this strong bond. The program "Hanoi Tourism Days" not only aims to promote the image of tourism, but also acts as a bridge, connecting mutual understanding and cooperation. Through this event, the Japanese public has the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of Hanoi, find new cooperation opportunities and together write new pages in the friendship between the two sides.

Within the framework of the event, the Vietnam Exhibition House in collaboration with the Hanoi Department of Tourism organized a tourism introduction space with the theme "Hanoi: Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive Destination". The space introduces to Japanese people and international visitors the heritage, history, culture and people of traditional, modern, integrated Hanoi, while promoting handicraft products, tourist souvenirs from traditional craft villages of Hanoi such as: Bat Trang ceramics, Van Phuc silk, folk paintings, lacquerware, etc.

In addition, many interesting and interactive experiences such as enjoying Hanoi's delicious cuisine, making traditional lotus tea, etc. were welcomed by visitors. Along with visiting the Space, visitors can access information about tourism businesses and tourism products of Hanoi, Vietnam, especially content aimed at the Japanese market.

In recent times, Hanoi has won many prestigious awards from international tourism organizations, typically "Asia's Leading City Destination 2024" (voted by the World Tourism Organization (WTA); "World's Most Attractive Culinary Destination" and is in the list of 25 most popular destinations in the world (ranked by Tripadvisor). This is a solid foundation for Hanoi to become a typical destination, representing Vietnamese tourism on the global tourism map.

In 2025, Hanoi Capital is honored to be the central destination of a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and Vietnam National Day. Towards this important event, the capital's tourism industry has implemented many attractive tourism promotion and stimulus activities and programs, increasing its appeal to domestic and international tourists.

Notably, more than 80 tourism products have just been launched. Accordingly, Hanoi strives to welcome 31.8 million visitors, including 7.8 million international visitors, an increase of about 22.8% compared to 2024./.
