Supporting visually impaired women

HNN.VN - Over 142 blind women received vocational training, and more than 68,000 gifts were distributed. These were the outstanding results reported at the conference summarizing 10 years of implementing the Program to Assist Blind Women (2016-2026) and reviewing 5 years of implementing the "Shelter of Love" program, held on the morning of June 2nd at the City Association of the Blind.

Certificates of commendation were awarded to individuals and groups who have achieved significant accomplishments in assisting visually impaired women and children.

Over the past 10 years, the City Association of the Blind has directed its affiliated units to focus on vocational training for blind women. As a result, 142 women have participated in vocational training courses in handicrafts, animal husbandry, and massage for health rehabilitation.

From 2016 to the present, with the support of various levels of government, organizations, individuals, and philanthropists, the City Association of the Blind has mobilized resources to distribute more than 68,000 gifts to visually impaired women and children, with a total value exceeding 20 billion VND.

Specifically, the "Shelter of Love" program, through the national target program for sustainable poverty reduction and the socio -economic development program for ethnic minority areas in the former A Lưới district, has built and renovated 25 houses for female members with a total cost of over 1.3 billion VND.

On this occasion, the City Association of the Blind awarded certificates of merit to collectives and individuals who have achieved many accomplishments in implementing the coordinated program to assist blind women. Delegates also exchanged ideas and proposed many solutions to further improve the effectiveness of caring for and supporting visually impaired women and children in the future.
