The beauty of the season

Interspersed with the yellow hues of time-worn earthen houses are the vibrant pinks and whites of peach, plum, and pear blossoms. There is also the understated beauty of fields covered in buckwheat flowers.

Time seemed to flow across every rock. On the road from Dong Van to Meo Vac, we were able to admire the natural scenery to our heart's content.

Along the way, lush green rapeseed fields and patches of pretty wildflowers resembled a painting made from dew drops on the plants. There were hills covered with buckwheat flowers, their tiny petals a mix of pink, purple, and white – a humble beauty amidst the vast mountains and forests.

Our car kept stopping and starting because everyone wanted to take in all the beauty of the season with all their senses. We strolled along the hillside amidst rows of buckwheat flowers in full bloom, feeling like the flowers themselves, brimming with life.

The blooming seasons of bauhinia and plum blossoms are a privilege of the climate and land of Moc Chau. We followed the trail through the valley of white mustard flowers leading to Thong Cuong and Pa Phach villages. The villagers are mostly Hmong people.

The scenery along the road is breathtaking. At the end of the year, the rapeseed flowers are gone, but the apricot blossoms still blanket the landscape. The unspoiled beauty of this place captivates visitors. At the end of the village, a tall, majestic kapok tree reaches towards the deep blue sky. Its leaning branches cast shadows down the hillside, creating a mystical scene. Here, the sky and earth seem to merge.

Standing halfway up the mountain and looking down at Pa Phach village, it's so peaceful. The apricot and plum trees have few blossoms left, but the spring shoots are already a vibrant green. Cows graze leisurely along the path in the valley. An ethnic minority girl walks slowly, carrying a basket on her back. A mother sits on the porch breastfeeding her child. Dark-skinned, rosy-cheeked children run and play in the fields. Smoke rises from the cooking fires.

In Quang Nam, the "Tam Ky Sưa Flower Festival" has been established for many years, considered an opportunity for Tam Ky to promote and introduce the sưa flower – the city's signature flower – to domestic and international tourists; and at the same time, to create a unique tourism destination and product for Tam Ky, linked to the development orientation of the southern tourism chain of the province. Alongside this, the red paulownia flower festival in Cu Lao Cham also contributes to increasing the number of visitors to this green island.

Seasonal flower tourism

Many travel companies say that while in the past tourists were only familiar with traditional tours focusing on exploring the land and people, now, in tour advertisements, each season features several routes introducing destinations associated with flowers and flower festivals.

Moc Chau boasts numerous mustard flower fields, perfect for tourists seeking photo opportunities. The blooming season of white mustard flowers in Moc Chau is a major draw for visitors. Combined with the early winter climate of Northern Vietnam, these native flowers are elevated to the status of a festival, adding a unique highlight to any trip to the North.

A representative from Saigon Tourist Company stated that during the peak blooming seasons of various flowers across the country, such as the buckwheat flower season in Ha Giang , the white mustard flower season in Moc Chau, the plum and peach blossoms along the Northwest routes, and the Da Lat flower festival, these are all included in the company's tour itineraries. Many travel agencies have been organizing seasonal flower tours for many years.

Not only are domestic flower seasons featured in destination advertisements, but flower festivals around the world, such as cherry blossom festivals in Japan, South Korea, and the United States; and tulip festivals in the Netherlands and Canada, have become familiar to many Vietnamese tourists. According to travel agencies, choosing to travel during the flower blooming season will enhance the travel experience. After all, flowers are symbols of beauty and will add beauty to any trip...

The villages in the highlands of Northwest and Northeast Vietnam are even more beautiful if you venture deep into the mountains. You can ask the locals for directions if you're unfamiliar with the area. But we believe your heart will guide you. Just like we did that day, we kept going and going…
