Dong Nai ranks 3rd in the country in terms of average income per capita/month.

(DN) - According to the results of the 2024 Population Living Standards Survey Report announced by the General Statistics Office on May 16, despite the complicated developments in the world situation, Vietnam's socio-economy still achieved many positive results, and people's lives improved significantly compared to the previous year.

In 2024, the average income per capita/month at current prices will reach 5.4 million VND, an increase of 9.1% compared to 2023. Of which, the average income per capita/month in urban areas will reach 6.9 million VND, an increase of 10.1% compared to 2023; and in rural areas it will reach 4.5 million VND, an increase of 8% compared to 2023.

The Southeast region continues to have the highest average monthly income per capita in the country, reaching nearly 7.1 million VND. In contrast, the region with the lowest average monthly income per capita is the Northern midlands and mountainous region, reaching only nearly 3.8 million VND.

Notably, Binh Duong is the locality with the highest average income per capita in the country, reaching 8.93 million VND/person/month. The next position belongs to Hanoi with an income of 7.55 million VND/person/month. Dong Nai is in third place with an average income of 7.15 million VND/person/month.

Ho Chi Minh City and Hai Phong are the localities with the 4th (7.1 million VND) and 5th (7.03 million VND) highest average monthly income in the country, respectively.

This year's survey results also show that people's spending will increase again in 2024, mainly in urban areas. Total average spending per capita/month will reach nearly 3 million VND; of which, urban areas will account for nearly 3.8 million VND.

By expenditure, the average living expenditure per capita per month is 2.8 million VND, accounting for 94.5% of total household expenditure. Of which, expenditure on food and drink is nearly 1.4 million VND and expenditure on non-food and drink is more than 1.4 million VND.

The 2024 Living Standards Survey was conducted in 63 provinces and centrally run cities, including 46,995 households representing the whole country, urban and rural areas, 6 socio-economic regions, and provinces/centrally run cities.
