On February 5th, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho City organized the opening ceremony of the "Spring Colors of the Orchard" and "Spring Book Park" programs for 2026. The event took place vibrantly at the Can Tho City Museum, Tao Dan Park, and along the sidewalks of Tran Quoc Toan and Phan Dinh Phung streets. A large number of people, especially students, came to visit and experience the activities.

The "Spring Colors of the Orchard" program takes place from February 5th to 9th. It features stalls showcasing traditional crafts of the Kinh, Hoa, and Khmer ethnic groups, such as basket weaving, knitting, crocheting, making Ngo boats, making bamboo chopsticks, and creating glass paintings…
In terms of cuisine, visitors can enjoy many famous types of cakes such as banh xeo (Vietnamese savory pancake), banh trang (rice paper rolls), banh kep cuon (rolled rice paper rolls), banh hong dao (peach-flavored rice cake), banh cu cai (radish cake), xa pau (preserved fruit), mi sua (rice noodles), com dep (flattened rice flakes), banh dua (pineapple cake), banh thot not (palm sugar cake), bun nuoc leo (noodle soup with broth)... Along with that, there are performances of Vietnamese calligraphy, typical musical forms (Can Tho folk songs, lullabies, traditional folk music), traditional costume shows, traditional martial arts, and water puppetry.

Meanwhile, at the "Spring Book Park," people have the opportunity to admire the book collections of many passionate collectors. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of palm leaf books, a unique form of heritage with meticulous lettering carved on leaves, showcasing the knowledge and distinctive cultural essence of the ethnic groups in the Mekong Delta.
The event was made even more interesting with five speaker Q&A sessions and five quiz programs about traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year celebrations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, City Party Committee member and Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Can Tho, said that the program... "Springtime Colors of the Orchard" It has been held from 2008 to the present. It has become a well-established brand during the days leading up to the Lunar New Year. Meanwhile, 2026 marks the first year that Can Tho City will implement the "Spring Book Park" model. This is not only an event to celebrate the spring, but also a testament to the aspiration to build a learning society starting from a reading culture.
The two programs will offer people a colorful experiential journey with more than 54 types of traditional cuisine and crafts, showcased by 43 performing artisans and over 80 actors. There will be a total of 44 stalls and miniature scenes (with electrical systems, lighting, and marigold decorations), along with dozens of performances, interactions, and community experiences.
"As a connecting space between heritage, community, tourism, and reading culture, the 'Spring Colors of the Orchard' and 'Spring Book Park' programs not only contribute to honoring the cultural values of ethnic groups but also promote the image of Can Tho - the cultural center of the Mekong Delta, rich in identity, dynamic, and integrated. In addition, the Organizing Committee aims to contribute to creating an intellectual playground and awakening pride in the tradition of studiousness of the people of Can Tho in the new era," Mr. Nguyen Van Bay shared.
