Dong Thap: Lighting candles to pay tribute to heroic martyrs

DTO - On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2025), on the evening of July 24, the Standing Committee of Dong Thap Provincial Youth Union coordinated with the People's Committee of My Tra Ward to organize a candle lighting ceremony to pay tribute to heroic martyrs at the Dong Thap Provincial Martyrs Cemetery (My Tra Ward). Leaders of provincial departments, branches, and sectors, leaders of the People's Council - People's Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of My Tra, My Ngai, Cao Lanh wards and more than 250 union members and youths participated.

Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen offered incense at the martyr's grave.

In the sacred atmosphere, the delegation observed a minute of silence to express their respect and deep gratitude to the outstanding children who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.

At the same time, at the martyrs' cemeteries, steles, monuments, martyrs' memorial houses, revolutionary bases, memorial steles and golden plaques of merit throughout Dong Thap province, the Youth Union at all levels simultaneously organized candle lighting, incense offering and flower offering ceremonies with the participation of more than 15,860 union members and youth.

With the spirit of "Each candle lit - Ten thousand grateful hearts", each candle lit is like the promise of Dong Thap Youth to promote youthfulness, inherit the heroic and indomitable tradition of the previous generation, continue to strive, study, practice, and actively contribute to the economic and social development.
