Dong Thap steps firmly into the new development stage

On October 1, at the Provincial Conference Center, the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee held the official opening session of the 1st Congress of Delegates for the 2025-2030 term. This is a particularly important political event for the Provincial Party Committee, government and people.

Attending and directing the Congress was comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission.

Also attending were comrade Le Minh Hoan, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; comrade Nguyen Thanh Tam, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee; comrade Huynh Thanh Dat, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Committee; comrade Bui Van Nghiem, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee... and 450 delegates representing 120,676 party members in the entire Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee.

Speaking at the congress, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, emphasized: The preparation process for the congress was carried out by Dong Thap province meticulously, seriously, and responsibly, ensuring compliance with Directive No. 45-CT/TW, dated April 14, 2025 of the Politburo and documents and instructions of the Central Committee; closely following the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress and the instructions of General Secretary To Lam .

Over the past 5 years, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Dong Thap province have made efforts and determined to overcome difficulties, recover quickly after the Covid-19 pandemic, and achieved many important and comprehensive results in all fields.

The economic structure has shifted positively, inter-regional transport infrastructure has been strongly invested in, administrative reform has been focused on, competitiveness has been among the leading groups in the country throughout the term, completing the task of building new rural areas at the provincial level in 2024; national defense, security, and foreign affairs have been strengthened; Party building work has achieved many comprehensive results and the rate of party member development has exceeded the target.

On behalf of the Politburo and the Secretariat, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia respectfully commended, highly appreciated and congratulated the achievements that the Party Committee, government and people of Dong Thap province have achieved in the past term. This is an important foundation and a great driving force for Dong Thap province to firmly step into the new development stage, successfully implementing the goal by 2030, to be among the leading developing localities in the Mekong Delta region.

In the coming time, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested the Party Committee to continue to identify the task of building a clean and strong Party and political system as a key task; strongly promote the role of the people, associated with improving the quality and effectiveness of the activities of People's Councils at all levels, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations; focus on leading and directing the operation of the 2-level local government model to ensure smoothness, efficiency, effectiveness and efficiency.

In addition, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia said that Dong Thap province needs to exploit the maximum potential and advantages from the new development space to concentrate all resources for investment and development in the direction of green economy, digital economy, and circular economy; pay special attention to developing culture and people, ensuring social progress and equity; strengthen and consolidate national defense and security, firmly protect territorial sovereignty and national borders in the new situation.

According to comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, implementing the personnel work direction of the 14th Party Congress, Directive No. 45-CT/TW, and at the same time, proactively building a team of cadres to meet the requirements of the task, the Politburo decided to let comrade Le Quoc Phong stop participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and stop holding the position of Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee to carry out new tasks.

This is the Politburo's recognition of comrade Le Quoc Phong personally, as well as of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Executive Committee in the past time. The Politburo assigned comrade Le Quoc Phong to continue to manage and direct the entire Dong Thap Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Based on the practical situation and cadre capacity, the Politburo unanimously assigned, mobilized and appointed comrade Ngo Chi Cuong, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, to participate in the Executive Committee, Standing Committee and hold the position of Secretary of Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Comrade Ngo Chi Cuong will take up his duties immediately after the congress. Comrade Ngo Chi Cuong is a well-trained cadre, matured from the grassroots, has held many leadership and management positions in the locality, and is capable of undertaking well the responsibility of Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee in the new period.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested the Secretary of the Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee and the new Dong Thap Provincial Party Committee to continue to promote the spirit of solidarity, pioneering, responsibility, and exemplary role, to be the core of leadership, to stick closely to the grassroots, and to organize and well implement the goals, tasks, and solutions set forth in the congress resolution. Immediately after the congress, the province needs to urgently issue an action program to implement the resolution; organize and disseminate the resolution to cadres, party members, and people of all walks of life; and focus on building the working regulations of the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, and the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee.
