'Doraemon 44' earns nearly 115 billion VND, dominating the Vietnamese box office.

(PLVN) - As of the afternoon of June 2nd, the film "Doraemon Movie 44" had grossed 114.2 billion VND. Previously, "Doraemon Movie 44" reached the 100 billion VND mark after 10 days of release, becoming the first foreign film to reach this revenue milestone in 2025.

"Doraemon Movie 44" begins with the story of Claire, the princess of the kingdom of Artoria, who unexpectedly appears in the modern world and invites Doraemon and his friends to her world of paintings. There, they must confront an ancient legend that is rising, wielding evil power and ambition to destroy both worlds.

With special screenings on May 17-18 and its official release on May 23, "Doraemon Movie 44" received many positive reviews for its storyline. As a result, the film has consistently achieved impressive box office results.

According to Box Office Vietnam (an independent box office statistics unit), it's no surprise that "Doraemon Movie 44" continued to top the charts last weekend, coinciding with Children's Day (June 1st). The film grossed over 34 billion VND, bringing its current total revenue to over 114.2 billion VND. Thus, in just one week, the film has earned over 62 billion VND, demonstrating the overwhelming appeal of the series about the intelligent robot cat.

Meanwhile, "Mission Impossible 8" opened in Vietnam with 15 billion VND. Internationally, the film also came in second after "Lilo & Stitch Live Action" with a total global revenue of 353 million USD. Part 7 grossed over 60 billion VND in Vietnam and over 522 million USD globally. It seems the revenue prospects for Part 8 are more promising.

"Lilo & Stitch Live Action" ranked third last week with 9.5 billion VND. The film brought in over $610 million globally for Disney, becoming a blockbuster of summer 2025. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese-made animated film "Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Village" grossed over 6.2 billion VND. According to Box Office Vietnam, despite competing with many big names, the above results can be considered a success for "Cricket".

This week, "The Bottom of the Lake" - the first dual-film production by the duo of producer Hoang Quan and director Tran Huu Tan - will officially be released in theaters. Having already achieved great box office success with "Cam," "The Soul Eater," etc., "The Bottom of the Lake" is now receiving high expectations from the public.
