'Doraemon 44' reaches nearly 115 billion, dominating the Vietnamese box office

(PLVN) - As of the afternoon of June 2, the movie "Doraemon Movie 44" has earned 114.2 billion VND. Previously, "Doraemon Movie 44" reached the 100 billion mark after 10 days of release, becoming the first foreign film to reach this revenue milestone in 2025.

"Doraemon Movie 44" begins with the story of Claire - the princess of the kingdom of Artoria - who suddenly appears in the modern world , inviting Doraemon's group of friends to the world in her paintings. Here, they must face an ancient legend that is rising, carrying evil power and ambition to destroy both worlds.

Opening a number of special screenings on May 17-18 and officially premiering on May 23, "Doraemon Movie 44" received many positive responses about the plot. Thanks to that, the box office revenue of the work continuously recorded impressive achievements.

According to Box Office Vietnam (an independent box office statistics unit), last weekend coincided with Children's Day (June 1), it was no surprise that "Doraemon Movie 44" continued to top the chart. The film earned more than 34 billion VND, bringing the current total revenue to more than 114.2 billion. Thus, in just 1 week, the film earned more than 62 billion VND, proving the overwhelming appeal of the series about the intelligent robot cat.

Meanwhile, "Mission: Impossible 8" opened in Vietnam with 15 billion VND. In the international market, the film also came in second after "Lilo & Stitch Live Action" with a total global revenue of 353 million USD. Part 7 of the film earned more than 60 billion VND in Vietnam and more than 522 million USD globally. It can be seen that the revenue of part 8 is more positive.

"Lilo & Stitch Live Action" ranked 3rd last week with 9.5 billion VND. The film brought in more than 610 million USD globally for Disney, becoming the blockbuster of the summer of 2025. Meanwhile, the animated film "made in Vietnam" - "De Men: Adventure to the swampy village" earned more than 6.2 billion. According to Box Office Vietnam, despite having to compete with many big names, the above result can be considered a success for "De Men".

This week, "Under the Lake" - the first twin film by the duo of producer Hoang Quan - director Tran Huu Tan will officially hit theaters. Having been very successful in terms of revenue with "Cam", "Ke an hon"..., "Under the Lake" is currently receiving many expectations from the public.
