The above statement was made by Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son at the plenary session of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education .
The Minister stated that, following the 4th Session of the 15th National Assembly , the Government instructed ministries and agencies to consider specific plans to increase allowances for teachers.
"The Ministry of Education and Training has repeatedly worked with the Ministry of Interior, and within the scope of feasible conditions, both sides have agreed to increase the preferential allowance for preschool teachers by 10% and for primary school teachers by 5%. Currently, the plan is awaiting feedback from the Ministry of Finance ," Mr. Son shared.
The Minister of Education hopes that delegates at the National Assembly forum will support the proposed increase in the number of teachers, ensuring sufficient staffing in educational institutions.
Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son shared this at the meeting.
Regarding the shortcomings in the implementation of Decree 116 on financial support for tuition fees and living expenses for teacher training students, the Minister stated that the Ministry of Education and Training is urgently developing a revised Decree 116 to meet the requirements of teacher training and address the shortcomings in the training ordering process.
Furthermore, Minister Son also hopes that the National Assembly's monitoring report on the implementation of the reform of the general education curriculum and textbooks will comprehensively assess the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the implementation process.
He analyzed that, right from the first years of implementation, the entire education sector had to work twice or three times harder to both cope with the pandemic, ensure that educational activities were not disrupted, and implement reforms with very high goals and expectations.
In the coming period, the education sector will conduct an evaluation of the 3-year implementation of the 2018 general education program; organize the high school graduation exam and university entrance exam in 2023; prepare sufficient textbooks for the new school year, appraise textbooks for grades 5, 9, and 12; develop a new preschool education program; summarize 10 years of implementing Resolution 29… Therefore, Minister Nguyen Kim Son hopes that National Assembly deputies will continue to support and share with the sector.
Concluding the session, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education, Nguyen Dac Vinh, assessed: The ministries and sectors have made great efforts and have seen positive and clear movements in various fields. The education sector implemented reforms to the general education curriculum and textbooks under very difficult pandemic conditions but has adapted well.
The Chairman of the Committee on Culture and Education also discussed the budget for the cultural and educational sectors; policies to promote social participation in these sectors; and drew the attention of ministries and agencies to the disbursement of funds.
