Expected names of 34 provincial administrative units after merger and consolidation

On behalf of the Central Executive Committee, on April 12, 2025, General Secretary To Lam signed and issued Resolution No. 60-NQ/TW of the 11th Conference of the 13th Party Central Executive Committee. The Central Committee agreed on the policy of rearranging provincial-level administrative units nationwide to 34 units, including 28 provinces and 6 centrally-run cities.

Of the current 63 provincial administrative units, 11 units will not be merged, the remaining 52 units will be merged and consolidated into 23 new provincial administrative units.
