About 21.58 million visitors came to the capital in 8 months
Ms. Dang Huong Giang - Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism informed in detail that in August 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi is estimated at 3.18 million, an increase of 27.5% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international tourists are estimated at 709,22 thousand, an increase of 42.6% over the same period in 2024 (including 500 thousand international tourists with accommodation); domestic tourists are estimated at 2.47 million, an increase of 23.8% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 12.54 trillion VND, an increase of 31.5% over the same period in 2024.
It is expected that in the first 8 months of 2025, the total number of tourists to Hanoi will reach 21.58 million, an increase of 13.9% over the same period in 2024. Of which, international tourists will reach 4.96 million, an increase of 25.8% over the same period in 2024 (including 3.49 million international tourists staying there), domestic tourists will reach 16.62 million, an increase of 10.7% over the same period in 2024. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at VND 85,835 trillion, an increase of 17.1% over the same period in 2024.
In August 2025, the average room occupancy rate of the hotel sector is estimated at 59%, an increase of 2 percentage points over the same period in 2024. Regarding the number of tourist accommodation establishments, Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,256 rooms; of which there are 85 hotels and apartment buildings within the 1-5 star rating period with a total of 11,965 rooms, specifically: 23 hotels and 07 apartment buildings with 5-star rating; 16 hotels and 01 apartment building with 4-star rating; 12 3-star hotels; 14 2-star hotels and 12 1-star hotels. The number of unregistered tourist accommodation establishments with 59,291 rooms is 3,676.
Regarding standard tourism services, in Hanoi there are currently 58 service businesses recognized as meeting standards for serving tourists, including: 25 food service businesses, 22 shopping service businesses, 9 entertainment businesses, 2 health care service businesses. The system of shopping, dining, and entertainment service establishments that meet standards for serving tourists has attracted and served a large number of tourists and residents to visit and shop.
In particular, on the occasion of the 80th National Day, the Hanoi Department of Tourism continues to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Protection Command to serve people and tourists visiting the Mausoleum. It is expected that 35,000 gifts will be handed to visitors on September 3, 2025 as a gratitude and warm greeting from the thousand-year-old capital to visitors to the City for Peace , the Creative City and join in the historic Autumn days of the Vietnamese people.
The capital's tourism industry will coordinate to participate in activities and events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) in Hanoi.
As of mid-August 2025, in the capital city, there were 2,075 international travel service businesses; 568 domestic travel service businesses; 32 tourist transport businesses, 7 representative offices of foreign travel service businesses; 6,613 international tour guides; 2,485 domestic tour guides and 158 on-site tour guides operating.
Continue to make tourism a spearhead economic sector
Providing information on the goals, targets, tasks, and solutions in September and the following period to develop tourism in the capital, Director of the Hanoi Department of Tourism Dang Huong Giang shared that the industry will complete the Project to innovate the organizational model, management methods, preserve, and promote the value of the special national historical relic site and scenic spot of Huong Son complex (Huong Pagoda), Hanoi city.
Notably, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will develop and implement a plan to organize the opening and launch of new tourism products with the theme: "Hanoi Tourism - Convergence of Essence 2025". Organize the Hanoi Beverage Festival Program in 2025; participate in the International Tourism Fair ITE in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, the Hanoi Department of Tourism will organize a delegation to participate in the booth of the ITB India Fair (India) and the Vietnam tourism promotion program in India, participate in the International Tourism Fair IFTM Topresa and cooperate in tourism development in France in 2025.
In particular, the Hanoi Department of Tourism is organizing the Hanoi Autumn Festival 2025 and the Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai Festival 2025. These are activities that have attracted a large number of tourists in previous events, and are unique and attractive tourism products during the autumn days of Hanoi. In the coming time, the Hanoi tourism industry will also organize activities to participate in the Four-Way Food Exchange Festival in Hue City and the Thanh Tuyen Festival in Tuyen Quang.
In addition, Ms. Dang Huong Giang added that the Department of Tourism will develop a plan to organize training conferences and survey programs to connect tourist destinations of wards and communes with travel businesses in Hanoi. Coordinate to develop and implement programs to promote, advertise, cooperate in tourism development and exchange experiences, connect and develop community tourism products associated with agriculture and rural areas between Hanoi and provinces in the Central - Central Highlands region.
