Travel to Then Pa, Ha Giang - where rammed earth houses hide at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole

At the foot of Lung Cu flagpole, there is a hundreds-year-old village lying quietly next to Dragon Eye Lake named Then Pa. Then Pa Village, Ha Giang is a small and beautiful village located right at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole, with a peaceful and gentle appearance that makes people miss it.

1. Introduction to Then Pa village, Ha Giang

Then Pa is located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, at the foot of Dragon mountain. Local newspapers reported that if at the foot of Dragon mountain there are 2 freshwater lakes, which are compared by the locals to "dragon eyes", never drying up all year round, then one "eye" is located on the side of Lo Lo Chai village, the other "eye" is located near Then Pa.

Then Pa in the local language means large field. Nestled at the foot of Lung Cu flagpole is Then Pa village, home to the Vang people of the H'Mong ethnic group, who are all brothers in a large family that have lived together for a long time. This village still retains many traditional features of the H'Mong people such as their lifestyle or rammed earth houses with yin-yang tiled roofs. Then Pa village at the foot of Dragon Mountain has two freshwater lakes called Dragon Eyes by the locals that never dry up all year round. The lake on the left is near Lo Lo Chai village, the lake on the right is near Then Pa village.

Passing a road about 150km long from the city center, through winding roads like silk strips drawn on rocks, with canola flowers blooming on both sides of the road, Then Pa village appears in the amazement of many people.
Then Pa Village is considered to have preserved the traditional cultural features of the Mong ethnic group to this day, after more than 100 years of history. The most typical feature is probably the architecture of the houses here, which are all made of rammed earth walls and yin-yang tiled roofs. The local people wear colorful brocade costumes not only in special ceremonies and festivals, but also in their daily activities and work.

Then Pa Village, Ha Giang, each season has its own beauty, each has interesting experiences that bring you excitement in your Ha Giang travel journey;

Coming here in spring, you will see pear and peach blossoms blooming brilliantly on the roads in the village, in the gardens of the Mong people or flowers covering the hillsides and mountainsides. Around the third lunar month is the time when pear blossoms bloom most brilliantly, the picture of Then Pa becomes bright, clear and very gentle.

In the summer, this place is green with the colors of corn fields stretching far and wide. In addition to growing rice, people here also cultivate corn to improve their lives. Traveling to Then Pa in the summer, visitors can see the clear water of Dragon Eye Lake. This is a truly wonderful time to enjoy the beautiful scenery of Ha Giang.

In addition, Then Pa village is also very poetic in the golden season of ripe rice. Although this place does not have many terraced fields like Hoang Su Phi, the scenery is still very impressive. Passing through the rows of cypress trees to enter the village, visitors will see houses with grey tiled roofs and rammed earth walls lying close together. Behind the houses, around the garden, are cool green trees, a pleasant atmosphere spreads out, covering the landscape. Then Pa is perhaps most beautiful in the early morning, when the misty fog surrounds the village, adding to the beauty of the picture here.
In addition, households in Then Pa also opened more restaurants to bring many delicious Ha Giang specialties for tourists to enjoy.
