Green for sustainable development

In 2022, Quang Nam province was chosen as a Green Tourism Destination in the National Tourism Year. This is a worthy trust of the national tourism industry for Quang Nam, where a decade ago, Hoi An City initiated many environmentally friendly movements and models such as limiting plastic bags in the old town or Cu Lao Cham, recycling trash, neighborhoods without engine noise...

Hoiana Resort & Golf goes hand in hand with local development

Green tourism orientation is a sustainable development strategy, becoming a brand of Hoi An in particular and Quang Nam in general. In 2019, the tourism model of reducing plastic waste here was responded to by many pioneering businesses, contributing to the success of the orientation of building a green destination brand by 2025 in Quang Nam.

Located in the South of Hoi An, Hoiana Resort & Golf Complex, from the very first days of opening (2020), has always determined that project development must go hand in hand with the locality sustainably, including environmental protection and green tourism development.

Hoiana classifies waste at source, collects and treats waste in a closed process. Some types of waste such as organic waste, glass bottles, etc. can be treated and recycled right at the facility.

With the organic waste recycling machine, kitchen by-products and leftover food are separated from water and composted into organic fertilizer. In just a short time of 1-3 days, the machine can recycle 500 kg of waste into 200-300 kg of organic fertilizer.

On a scale of 1,000 hectares, Hoiana has completed phase 1 including 1,200 international 5-star rooms, an 18-hole Championship standard golf course and a culinary system of more than 12 restaurants.

To effectively manage and save energy, in 2020, Hoiana installed solar power on an area of nearly 4,500 m², helping to reduce 1,200 tons of emissions per year. In 2023, Hoiana will continue to expand its scale to 15,000 m², expected to generate more than 2.5 million kW of electricity each year and reduce more than 3,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions into the environment.

"Green tourism is the right direction for Quang Nam, in line with the development trend of world tourism, but this path is not easy, it requires a balance between customer satisfaction, reducing costs for businesses and protecting the environment... For Hoiana, sustainable development and green tourism are a long journey that we are striving for every day", Mr. Steve Wolstenholme, Chairman and General Director of Hoiana Resort & Golf shared.

In the green tourism development strategy, the "human" factor plays a key role. Therefore, in addition to investing in infrastructure, Hoiana also focuses on training, regularly organizing training sessions, and many activities to raise awareness of staff about green tourism, environmental protection and sustainable development.

Finding Hoi An's identity

Green tourism and green businesses are inevitable trends. This strategy not only helps Hoi An find its identity and preserve its values, but also reduces pressure on the ecosystem and landscape, aiming to preserve and promote sustainable heritage values.

Currently, Vietnamese businesses are rapidly transforming to green to adapt to the world. Especially for post-Covid-19 tourists, choosing destinations, tourism products, and especially green businesses, is a top priority for international tourists.

Therefore, Hoiana's strategy of becoming a green, sustainable business is in line with the general development direction of the Quang Nam tourism community, where Hoiana is located.
