For generations, visiting temples and pagodas at the beginning of the year has been a beautiful cultural tradition in Vietnam, commemorating the great contributions of ancestors and praying for peace and prosperity in the new year. In Thai Binh province, the special national historical site of the mausoleum and temple of the Tran Dynasty kings in Tien Duc commune (Hung Ha district) is a destination for both locals and tourists. In the atmosphere of the early spring days, the stories of the Tran Dynasty kings at this special national historical site act as an invisible thread connecting the past with the present, allowing each person to better understand and be proud of the glorious history of the nation.

The Tran Temple Festival 2024 will take place at the special national historical site of the mausoleum and temple of the Tran dynasty kings, Tien Duc commune (Hung Ha).
In the feudal dynasties of Vietnam, the Tran dynasty was known as a prosperous and powerful dynasty, excelling in socio-economic development, a martial dynasty with outstanding military art, and glorious victories against the Mongol invaders three times. After successful resistance against invaders, the Tran kings would often sail back to the Royal Wharf and offer their glorious victories to their ancestors. The Tran kings usually held a ceremony at Thai Duong village (now Tien Duc commune, Hung Ha district) at the beginning of spring. This ritual reflects the Vietnamese tradition of "drinking water, remembering the source" and the traditional religious culture of the Vietnamese people, which has been concretized through the practices in religious life and festivals that are highly emphasized. For over seven centuries, the traditional festival commemorating the Tran kings has been maintained annually with solemn ceremonies. In anticipation of this year's traditional festival, from the very first days of the new spring, a large number of local people and tourists from all over have visited Tran Temple.
As one of the visitors who came to offer incense in remembrance of the Tran Dynasty kings and enjoy the scenery on the first day of the new year at the special national historical site, Ms. Bui Thi Thanh Mai, a member of the Thai Binh Han Nom and Calligraphy Club, couldn't help but feel emotional. She was one of four club members who directly recited the two immortal verses of King Tran Nhan Tong: "The country has twice endured hardships like a stone horse / The mountains and rivers have stood firm like a golden vessel for a thousand years" on the opening night of the Tran Temple Festival in 2023.
Ms. Mai shared: "Having studied and been involved with calligraphy for nearly 10 years, my unforgettable memory is being able to express two immortal verses in the sacred space of the opening night of the Tran Temple Festival in 2023. Following that success, the club members have devoted much effort to building a program for calligraphy clubs to exchange ideas and give calligraphy at the temple grounds on the day of the Tran Temple Festival in 2024. We hope this will be one of the unique cultural activities and a memorable experience for visitors coming to the Tran Temple Festival this year."

The national special historical site of the tombs and temples of the Tran Dynasty kings in Tien Duc commune (Hung Ha district) is a popular destination for spring excursions on the first day of the new year.
In practical preparation for the art exhibition of paintings and photographs taking place within the framework of the Tran Temple Festival in 2024, photographer Nguyen Phuc Anh, Head of the Photography Branch of the Thai Binh Literature and Arts Association, spent a lot of time capturing beautiful moments at Tran Temple during the early days of spring. He shared: "Many outstanding photographic works by Thai Binh artists will be displayed throughout the Tran Temple Festival in 2024. Bearing the pride and desire to promote the beauty of our homeland to friends both domestically and internationally through artistic works, I and the artists in the Branch are striving to create with unique and creative perspectives, expressing our hope for a prosperous and successful new year."
In the early days of the new spring, preparations for the traditional festival from January 13th to 17th are underway at the Tran Temple complex. The semi-realistic stage for the opening ceremony is being constructed rapidly, attracting the attention of visitors. Ms. Pham Thi Tuyen, a visitor from Hanoi, shared: "We really want to return here every year to visit the historical site because Tran Temple is a sacred place and a famous landmark in the country. The management board is very dedicated in guiding visitors. We offered prayers to the Tran kings and spent a lot of time sightseeing and taking beautiful photos."

Preparations are underway for the Tran Temple Festival in Thai Binh in 2024.
With the tradition of "Drinking water, remembering the source," the people of Tam Duong in particular, and Thai Binh province in general, have preserved the historical site throughout its more than 700-year history. Not only during spring excursions and traditional festivals, the special national historical site of the mausoleum and temple of the Tran Dynasty kings is always an important destination for today's generations to better understand the heroic spirit of Dong A, of one of the most powerful dynasties in the nation's history, thereby contributing to the strong promotion of cultural heritage values and boosting local socio-economic development.
