On April 18, at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, a conference was held to "Review the coordination work with localities to mobilize ethnic people to organize activities at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism". In his summary report at the Conference, Director of the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups Trinh Ngoc Chung said that under the close direction of the leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the organization of events at the Village of Culture and Tourism of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups has always been closely coordinated with localities across the country, organizing many meaningful and unique cultural activities, recreating traditional rituals and festivals, introducing intangible cultural heritages, organizing conferences, seminars, talks, exhibitions, folk song and dance activities, ethnic sports, performances of ethnic costumes, etc.

The period from 2015 to 2024 is considered an important period when applying and implementing methods, organizational scales, planning, and in-depth content of activities, from annual events to weekend and monthly activities with topics and themes on ethnic cultures of regions, focusing on linking the activities of the Village with localities.

During this period, the Village coordinated with 60 localities nationwide to select activities, consult, and develop a Framework Plan for organizing activities. Based on the Framework Plan issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Management Board proactively developed and implemented a detailed monthly plan suitable to the actual conditions and context, effectively organizing activities and events associated with preserving and promoting the cultural values ​​of Vietnamese ethnic groups.

From 2015 to the end of 2024, the Village has mobilized nearly 9,000 artisans, village elders, village chiefs, and ethnic minorities from 481 ethnic groups, with more than 350 local groups, in which, special attention was paid to inviting ethnic minorities to participate; organizing 101 specialized activities and monthly events; coordinating the organization of activities to introduce the Local Cultural Tourism Festival; periodically organizing 3-year review conferences, 5-year conferences to evaluate the results of activities, organizing conferences to honor village elders, village chiefs, artisans, and prestigious people who have made many contributions to the activities of preserving, maintaining, and promoting traditional cultural values. In addition, the Village also coordinated with theaters, art units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and local art clubs to mobilize over 5,000 artists, actors, students, athletes and pupils of ethnic minorities to participate in weekend activities, events and special topics.

Conference Overview

"Organizing activities and events at the Cultural Village also contributes to introducing and promoting the image of local culture and tourism. This is also an opportunity for ethnic groups to meet, exchange, interact, learn from each other's experiences, making ethnic groups in the Vietnamese ethnic community understand each other, become closer, respect and harmonize with each other, support each other in economic, cultural and social development, contributing to strengthening the strength of the great national unity bloc." - Director Trinh Ngoc Chung said.

In the coming period, the Department of Culture of Vietnam's Ethnic Groups plans to continue researching and implementing projects to recreate the typical cultural spaces of the community of 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups, creating conditions for ethnic groups to meet and exchange in order to serve the research, preservation and promotion of the values ​​of the fine traditional cultural heritage of the ethnic groups; creating a driving force to promote the development of the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village to become a key tourist area with high quality, brand name, imbued with national cultural identity.

In particular, organizing activities and events, coordinating with localities to research and organize diverse and in-depth activities, events, cultural festivals, cultural exchange programs on a large scale, nationwide, typical of the Vietnamese ethnic community of 63/63 provinces and centrally-run cities held at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village; selecting activities to introduce unique features in customs, practices, festivals, folk arts, traditional crafts, cuisine... of ethnic groups associated with activities to preserve and promote traditional cultural values, associated with tourism development and creating a spreading effect, attracting people and tourists.

By 2030, strive to invite about 40% - 50% of the total 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam, each ethnic group has at least 8 people participating in daily activities at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village; ethnic groups invited to participate in activities ensure selectivity, regional representation and rotation among ethnic groups in the community of 54 ethnic groups, representing local community groups nominated by the locality.

At the Conference, localities, artisans, and representatives of ethnic groups contributed comments and recommendations, helping the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism have more grounds to continue reviewing, supplementing, and perfecting policies, innovating coordination methods, and mobilizing more substantial and widespread participation from the community.

Speaking at the Conference, Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy affirmed that after 15 years of operation, the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism has gradually realized its mission, becoming a place to preserve, conserve and promote the diverse traditional cultural values ​​rich in identity of 54 ethnic groups across the country.

The 15 years of establishment and development of the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village have been marked by the flourishing of rich and diverse cultural activities, with the frequent, increasingly profound and lively presence of ethnic groups from various localities, clearly demonstrated through the telling figures, the increasing number of domestic and international tourists, the increasingly rich and attractive activities, leaving good impressions, contributing to spreading the unique cultural values ​​of ethnic groups to the public at home and abroad.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the above encouraging results were achieved thanks to the close coordination between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and localities across the country, the close attention and direction of leaders at all levels, and especially the enthusiastic, responsible and persistent companionship of ethnic people, the cultural cores who keep the fire burning and pass on the fire, preserve and promote the values ​​of ethnic cultures in the localities and at the Vietnam Ethnic Culture and Tourism Village.

On September 17, 2024, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Circular No. 05/2024/TT-BVHTTDL stipulating criteria, quality standards and cost norms for daily living support services for people invited to participate in activities at the Village. This is considered an important milestone demonstrating the attention and direction of the Party and State, the strong participation of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the result of the efforts of the entire leadership of the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in concretizing the policy into reality.

Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy affirmed that the Conference is an opportunity to summarize and re-evaluate the results achieved, the difficulties and challenges that need to be overcome and draw lessons, thereby identifying solutions to continue to implement coordination work more effectively in the new situation.
