This afternoon (May 7th), Prime Minister Le Minh Hung met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet.

Congratulating Comrade Le Minh Hung on his election as Prime Minister, Prime Minister Hun Manet conveyed greetings and best wishes to General Secretary and President To Lam, affirming the importance of friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

Thanking Prime Minister Hun Manet for his kind sentiments, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung conveyed the greetings of General Secretary and President To Lam and other key leaders to the King, Queen, Senate President Hun Sen, and Prime Minister Hun Manet, affirming that Vietnam will closely coordinate to develop Vietnam-Cambodia relations in an increasingly substantive and effective manner.

The two Prime Ministers agreed to continue coordinating and promoting exchanges of delegations at all levels, seriously implementing agreements and cooperation mechanisms; steadfastly adhering to the principle of not allowing hostile forces to use the territory of one country to harm the security and interests of the other; strengthening cooperation in responding to non-traditional security challenges; and preventing and combating cross-border crimes.

Both sides agreed to expedite the finalization of the "New Economic Cooperation Mechanism for Closely Linking the Two Economies" project by 2035, with a vision to 2050; and to study and agree on a plan for connecting the Ho Chi Minh City/Moc Bai - Bavet/Phnom Penh expressway…

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful, stable, cooperative, and sustainably developing border, both sides affirmed their commitment to continue to adequately and promptly address emerging issues, promote negotiations to resolve approximately 16% of the uncompleted border demarcation, and coordinate border management both on land and at sea in a spirit of mutual understanding, respect, and in accordance with international law.
