Bringing Vietnam-New Zealand relations to deeper and more comprehensive development

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong received New Zealand Ambassador to Vietnam Caroline Beresford.

At the reception, Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong highly appreciated Ambassador Beresford's positive contributions in promoting the Vietnam-New Zealand Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in recent times.

Emphasizing that 2025 is of great significance as it marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the Deputy Minister affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to develop relations with New Zealand in a deeper and more comprehensive manner.

Considering the two countries as partners with high political trust, the Deputy Minister shared many common views on regional and international issues.

The two sides discussed the key areas to be promoted in the coming time, including the exchange of high-level delegations and the organization of annual mechanisms such as the 3rd Foreign Ministers' Meeting, as well as promoting the development of an Action Program to implement the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for the 2025-2028 period.

Agreeing to focus on finding breakthroughs in economic and tourism cooperation, areas of common interest and high complementarity between the two countries, the Deputy Minister and the Ambassador acknowledged the recent increase in people-to-people exchanges, creating a solid foundation for the bilateral relationship to develop further.

Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong and Ambassador Caroline Beresford discussed future cooperation directions.

The New Zealand Ambassador thanked Deputy Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong for taking the time to meet and making important assessments of the relationship between the two countries.

She shared with the Deputy Minister some outstanding results in bilateral cooperation in recent times, and looked forward to and was ready to closely coordinate with Vietnam to organize high-level and all-level visits in 2025, as well as organize activities on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
