Putting into operation Phu My dry port with investment capital of nearly 3,000 billion VND

On October 28, Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company held a ceremony to announce and put into operation Phu My dry port at Phu My 3 specialized industrial park (Phu My town, Ba Ria - Vung Tau ) with a total investment of nearly 3,000 billion VND.

Phu My dry port is the first dry port in Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the third dry port in the Southern region, after Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai .

The dry port has a total area of ​​nearly 40 hectares, divided into 2 phases. Of which, phase 1 is 15 hectares, announced by the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration to open a dry port in August 2023; the Ministry of Finance and the General Department of Customs recognized the location for customs clearance of goods in October 2023. The Prime Minister added Phu My dry port to the planning for the development of Vietnam's dry port system in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Phu My dry port is planned into sub-zones, including: Inland waterway port area; warehouse area with general warehouse, cold storage, CFS warehouse; yard area with import-export container yard, domestic container yard, cold container yard, empty container yard and open cargo yard.

Located in Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park, the Center of the comprehensive seaport - industrial ecosystem, Phu My dry port has the ability to connect by road, air, waterway and railway in the future to seaports, ICDs, depots in the region as well as areas supplying raw materials for production and consuming products nationwide to Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park. Thereby helping investors and shippers transport raw materials and products conveniently with the most optimal cost solution.

Phu My dry port was formed from the need to optimize the transport of import and export goods of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province to neighboring economic corridors; becoming a logistics center of the seaport. Connecting with dry ports far from seaports associated with goods distribution centers, road and waterway border gates to improve the efficiency of transport network connections, promote multimodal transport, reduce costs of transport and logistics services.

At the announcement ceremony, representatives of the Vietnam Maritime Administration and the General Department of Customs handed over the decision to open a dry port and customs clearance location for Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company.

On this occasion, Thanh Binh Phu My Joint Stock Company signed a cooperation agreement to open an empty container depot with MSC, the world's number 1 shipping line. At the same time, it established a joint venture with Medlog, a provider of integrated logistics services in 70 countries around the world. It cooperated with Saigon Newport Corporation in the transshipment of goods between Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park and seaports, ICDs and depots in the region and signed a contract in principle with 12 other partners.

Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Cong Vinh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, affirmed that the operation of Phu My dry port will create a turning point for the strong development of local port logistics services in the future.
