On the afternoon of July 31, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh, head of the State Steering Committee on Tourism, chaired the Steering Committee's meeting.
Previously, on July 15, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1532 to complete the State Steering Committee on Tourism.
Accordingly, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh is the head of the Steering Committee; Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung is the deputy head of the Steering Committee; members of the Steering Committee include leaders of a number of ministries and branches.
This is an inter-sectoral coordination organization whose function is to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the resolution of important, inter-sectoral issues in tourism activities nationwide; researching and proposing to the Prime Minister directions, tasks, and solutions to develop tourism.

Bright spots in the economic picture in the first 6 months of the year
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam tourism has recovered and achieved positive results.
In 2023, Vietnam will welcome 12.6 million international visitors, an increase of 332% compared to 2022; serving more than 108 million domestic visitors.
In 2024, tourism will continue to grow with 17.6 million international visitors and 110 million domestic visitors.
In the first 6 months of 2025, Vietnam welcomed nearly 10.7 million international visitors and served 77.5 million domestic visitors (up 8.5% over the same period last year, reaching 65% of the annual plan). Total tourism revenue in the first half of 2025 reached about VND 518,000 billion.
Promote tourism development
At the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh emphasized that Vietnamese tourism needs to continue to innovate its thinking and raise awareness of developing tourism in a systematic and professional manner.
Repositioning Vietnam's tourism industry, how to exploit and promote competitive advantages, outstanding opportunities, and distinct potentials of localities.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presides over and coordinates with ministries, branches and localities to implement the Central Government's resolutions on promoting tourism development, ensuring double-digit economic growth.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on restructuring the tourist market, preparing for a new development phase. For the international tourist market, it is recommended to focus on effectively exploiting traditional markets, approaching and exploiting new markets and large sources of visitors.
Increase investment in market research and training of tourism human resources to meet development needs in the coming period.
Third, advise on perfecting institutions in the direction of development creation, including advising on amending the 2017 Tourism Law and legal documents to create the most favorable conditions for businesses and tourists.
Fourth, continue to consider businesses and people as the subjects of tourism development, tourists as the center of tourism activities. Quickly grasp new tourism trends and new needs to guide localities and the tourism industry to develop.

State tourism management agencies need to innovate management methods and be creative to best support and accompany businesses.
Tourism businesses need to be bold and innovative in their approach, creating many new tourism products that suit the consumption needs of tourists.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to organize activities to promote Vietnamese culture and tourism abroad. At the same time, coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security to advise the Government to expand visa exemption for a number of countries that are potential tourist markets.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade integrates promotion of Vietnam's tourism brand and image into trade promotion programs.
The Ministry of Science and Technology presides over and coordinates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to accelerate the digital transformation process and promote the smart tourism ecosystem in Vietnam.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment coordinates with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to implement a coordination program in developing effective and sustainable agricultural, rural and eco-tourism for the period 2024 - 2030.
The Ministry of Construction, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Public Security coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to continue investing and mobilizing resources for tourism development.
