Vehicle registration at all commune-level police stations in the province or city

From July 1, 2025, individuals and organizations can register vehicles at vehicle registration points under the Traffic Police Department and all commune-level police in the province and city.

On June 30, the Ministry of Public Security issued Circular 51/2025/TT-BCA amending and supplementing a number of articles of Circular No. 79/2024/TT-BCA of the Minister of Public Security regulating the issuance and revocation of vehicle registration certificates, license plates of motor vehicles and specialized motorbikes, effective from July 1, 2025.

There are many new regulations, typically individuals and organizations are allowed to register vehicles at vehicle registration points under the Traffic Police Department and all commune-level police in the province and city.

The elimination of vehicle registration areas (previously, vehicles could only be registered at the commune where they reside or at the registration point as prescribed by the Traffic Police Department) is a breakthrough that creates favorable conditions for people and organizations. This is also the first public service of the Ministry of Public Security that took effect from July 1, along with the arrangement and reorganization of administrative units at all levels.

The Traffic Police Department said that from July 1, people or organizations that need to register cars, motorbikes, and specialized motorbikes can choose to register their vehicles at the Traffic Police Department or any commune-level police station in the province or city where they reside or have headquarters. For vehicles with confiscated origin, they must register at the Traffic Police Department.

For vehicles that win the license plate auction, in addition to being registered in the province or city where they reside or have their headquarters, individuals and organizations must also register at the Traffic Police Department that manages the license plate of the auctioned vehicle.
