On March 24, 1975, Quang Ngai Town was completely liberated. In the early days, Quang Ngai Town faced numerous difficulties due to the extremely severe consequences of the war; people's lives were deprived in every way. Amidst the difficulties and challenges, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Ngai Town united, determined to maintain political stability, social order and safety, ensure national defense and security, strive to compete in labor, promote production and build the homeland.

The heroic history of the provincial Party Committee has been soaked with the red blood of loyal cadres and party members through the ages. Therefore, when peace was restored, with the role of the political, economic , cultural and social center of the province, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Ngai town focused their efforts to heal the wounds of war and develop the town.

Promoting the responsibility of setting an example, party members have strived and pioneered in carrying out their tasks. At that time, implementing the policy of self-sufficiency in food of Zone 5 Party Committee, Quang Ngai Town Party Committee directed Party committees and authorities at all levels to focus on restoring agricultural production, focusing on irrigation work. From the timely direction of the Town Party Committee and the example of party members, people enthusiastically contributed with the government to repair 9 dams for 315 hectares of agricultural land; 6.3 km of irrigation canals; 5 water banks; 500 wells... Thanks to that, the whole town was able to grow the winter-spring rice crop of 1975 - 1976 in time. By January 1976, the town's people had covered the agricultural land that had been fallow and full of bombs and bullets during the war with 300 hectares of vegetables, beans of all kinds...

In the following years, along with efforts to boost production, the town's people worked together with the Party Committee and local authorities to develop the town in many fields. From 1989 to 1990, in the context of the difficult physical infrastructure of the education sector, the people contributed manpower and resources with the local authorities to build Inter-agency Kindergarten No. 2, repair 2/9 Kindergarten, Hoa Hong Kindergarten, and build 7 new elementary school classrooms. In the period of 1996 to 2000, to promote urban infrastructure construction, the Quang Ngai Town Party Committee issued Resolution No. 01-NQ/TU on rural and residential traffic, paving sidewalks on roads; upgrading and layering schools; upgrading, renovating and building new offices of state agencies; arranging and consolidating the team of construction management staff; regularly monitoring and gradually removing obstacles in basic construction. To quickly put the resolution into practice, pioneering party members donated land to build roads. The movement of donating labor and land to expand and upgrade roads quickly spread among the people. Thanks to that, the road system in the town at that time was gradually completed, and the urban appearance improved.

Recalling the difficult period, former Deputy Secretary of the Town Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai Town, Do Duc, recalled that in the years after liberation, the town's people tried their best to heal the wounds of war. The town's main economy at that time was still agriculture, while the area of ​​fallow land was very large. Therefore, the Party Committee, government and people of the town at that time spent a long time reclaiming, restoring and gradually restoring agricultural production activities. Then they considered developing industry, trade and services to gradually reduce the proportion of labor in the agricultural sector and gradually invest in urban infrastructure. The journey from town to city had a very low starting point, especially in terms of urban infrastructure.

In 1986, the main roads of Quang Ngai town were officially installed with lighting. From 1991 to 1995, the important traffic routes of the town such as the eastern bypass, Hung Vuong street and some new inner-city roads were paved with asphalt concrete or gravel... In 1996 - 2000, the main roads that existed before that time began to be paved with asphalt; 5 important traffic intersections were expanded and renovated. Bui Thi Xuan street was basically opened; Thanh Co - Nui But road axis was paved with asphalt; the road in the Tra Khuc river embankment and Nghia Dung embankment were invested. The strong investment in the urban traffic network during this period created momentum for Quang Ngai town to promote economic and social development, creating a new vitality for the development of a city that rose from hardship.

“Upgrading the urban area at a time when the local economy and society were facing many difficulties, the town government received great support from the people. To complete the targets on transport infrastructure, education, health care... the people at that time voluntarily donated land to the State to open roads, build schools, and open medical stations. From that solidarity and unity, Quang Ngai Town was able to rise to become a city in 2005,” Mr. Do Duc affirmed.

The year 2025 marks the 20-year journey of building and developing Quang Ngai City. From a type III urban area, Quang Ngai City has now achieved approximately 85/100 criteria points for a type II urban area and more than 62/100 criteria points for a type I urban area. The urbanization rate is approximately 51%.

Quang Ngai City strives to become a riverside, sea-oriented urban area by 2030 - one of the developed urban areas in the coastal urban strip of the Central region. To realize this aspiration, Quang Ngai City has made careful preparations for many years, in which the turning point decision is Resolution No. 123/NQ - CP dated December 12, 2013 of the Government on adjusting the administrative boundaries of Son Tinh district and Tu Nghia district to expand the administrative boundaries of Quang Ngai City and establish Truong Quang Trong ward in Quang Ngai City.

Up to now, more than 10 years since the expansion of administrative boundaries to the northeast, Quang Ngai City has effectively taken advantage of this advantage to open up development space. Quang Ngai City has formed an axis of urban development, tourism, and services along the river and coast with many highlights such as: Thien Ma Spiritual Cultural Area with the highlight of Minh Duc Pagoda, Tinh Khe Coconut Forest tourist site, Nghia Ha flower village... attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year. From there, it opens up job opportunities and career changes for people in the communes on the outskirts of the city.
