Electricity workers inspect the power system in the Hoi An area.
Over 444,000 customers remain without power due to flooding.
According to EVNCPC, as of 12:00 PM on October 29th, the entire corporation experienced 492 incidents and power outages due to flooding, of which 125 have been restored. Currently, 444,335 customers are still without electricity, accounting for 8.99% of EVNCPC's total customers and 18.82% of customers of the four power companies including Da Nang , Hue, Quang Ngai, and Quang Tri.
Across the region, 3,749 distribution substations were shut down, accounting for 6.52% of EVNCPC's total number of substations, with an estimated power loss of approximately 252.6 MW, equivalent to 6.93% of the Corporation's total peak capacity (Pmax = 3,646 MW).
Of these, Da Nang Power Company was the most severely affected, with 230,899 customers (26.34%) and 2,045 transformer stations (19.9%) experiencing power outages.
Hue Power Company still has 180,001 customers (52.4%) and 1,283 transformer stations (42.23%) that are out of operation.
Quang Ngai Power Company has 30,055 customers (4.86%) and 414 substations (6.47%) affected. Meanwhile, Quang Tri Power Company only has 240 customers and 7 substations in Trieu Phong commune that have not yet had their power restored.
Most power outages were due to the power company proactively cutting off electricity to ensure the safety of people and electrical equipment in deeply flooded areas with a high risk of accidents.

Workers are moving to landslide sites that have damaged the power grid to implement remedial measures.
Mobilize all resources and coordinate urgently to overcome the problem.
Speaking at the meeting, EVNCPC General Director Ngo Tan Cu assessed that the heavy rain and flooding situation in recent days has been very complex, with floodwaters rising rapidly, and in some places, the water level rose again shortly after receding, causing many difficulties in restoring power supply.
"EVNCPC recognizes that restoring electricity after the floods is an urgent task, but safety must be the top priority," Mr. Cu emphasized.
The General Director of EVNCPC requested that all units maintain 24/7 readiness, mobilize maximum manpower, equipment, and materials, proactively handle incidents, and restore power as soon as the water recedes and safety conditions are ensured.
"Wherever the floodwaters recede, inspect the power system to ensure safety and restore electricity to customers immediately. Within 3 to 5 days, all units must complete the restoration of the entire power grid after the flood," the General Director of EVNCPC instructed.

The General Director of EVNCPC requested its affiliated units to mobilize maximum resources, equipment, and materials to restore electricity to the people as quickly as possible.
Mr. Ngo Tan Cu assigned tasks to units to strengthen the dissemination of electrical safety information to the public, coordinate with local authorities, police, and military in accessing deeply flooded areas, assisting people, and ensuring the safety corridor of the power grid and the safety of employees performing tasks on the ground.
EVNCPC's specialized departments are urgently requested to distribute spare parts such as transformers, meters, wires, and switching equipment to units severely affected, especially in Hue and Da Nang, in order to proactively restore the system as soon as the floodwaters recede.
"EVNCPC is mobilizing maximum resources, equipment, and materials to restore electricity to people and essential infrastructure as quickly as possible, but absolutely will not compromise safety for speed. The entire system must work urgently and responsibly to quickly restore electricity and stabilize the lives and production of people in Central Vietnam," Mr. Ngo Tan Cu affirmed.
EVNCPC advises on electrical safety during storms and floods.
EVNCPC advises people to proactively prevent electrical accidents during storms and floods:
- Unplug electrical devices and disconnect the antenna cable from the TV to prevent lightning surges.
- Turn off the circuit breaker when water floods into the house, and move electrical appliances to higher ground.
- Do not touch electrical wires, poles, electrical cabinets, or wet areas where there is electrical leakage.
- Never turn on the electricity before the water has completely receded.
- If you discover a broken power line, a leaning pole, or a dangerous area, do not approach it and immediately report it to your local power company or the hotline 1900 1909 for assistance.
