Recently, Facebook officially commented on the unexpected change in its app icon to a dark blue color.
According to 9to5Mac , many Facebook users were abuzz about the sudden change in the app icon on iPhones, with its new dark blue design. However, Facebook has officially confirmed that this was just a technical error and not a new rebranding campaign.
| Facebook has admitted that the change to the icon was due to a technical issue. |
According to Business Insider , Meta's media representative Dave Arnold stated: "This was a technical issue and has been resolved. Users will see the fix when they update the app."
Facebook's new icon has created a significant departure from the traditional blue and white design and has not been well-received by users. Instead of the familiar blue background and white icon, the new design features a black background and a blue icon.
This Facebook issue reminded many people of a new feature in iOS 18: when switching to dark or light mode, the app icons also change style. However, the dark blue Facebook logo appeared on iOS 17 and did not change when users switched between modes on iOS 18.
The latest version of the Facebook app with the fixed icon is now available on the App Store. Users can download it to resolve this issue.
