On June 26, the Department of Food Safety ( Ministry of Health ) announced the results of the peak month from May 17 to June 17 in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and infringement of intellectual property rights.

Many establishments violated when suddenly inspected

During the above period, the Food Safety Department established 5 surprise inspection teams in 5 provinces/cities: Bac Ninh, Thai Binh, Dong Nai, Nam Dinh and Hanoi . As a result, out of 17 functional food production and trading establishments subject to inspection, the teams discovered 1 establishment violating labeling, 2 establishments violating advertising; 1 establishment violating 4 acts regarding production and trading conditions.

At the same time, 4 food businesses were discovered not operating at the registered address. The Department has sent a document to the Department of Finance of the province/city requesting handling according to the provisions of law.

Regarding the control of food advertising and trading in e-commerce, the Department has requested Shopee Company Limited and Lazada Vietnam E-commerce Company Limited to review, stop trading, and remove information about products that do not have a certificate of registration of product declaration for sale on these platforms.

During the peak month, the Department also requested the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development - Ministry of Industry and Trade , the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City, and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Hanoi to coordinate, inspect, and handle information on weight loss products of two individuals with the nicknames "Ngan 98" and "Ngan Collagen".

Fanpage "Hoang Huong - Meli Pharmacy" was mentioned

During the peak month, this unit sent an official dispatch to the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) requesting to handle violations of advertising on social networks.

On June 26, the Food Safety Department said that in April, the Department sent a document requesting to handle advertising violations on the fanpage “Genuine Hoang Huong Meli Pharmaceuticals”. Accordingly, an individual introduced the health protection food Morimon Horse Bone Extract Powder, misleadingly claiming that it has the same effect as a medicine.

Nine days later, the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information announced that the advertising links had been removed.

However, by the end of May, through screening, the Food Safety Department discovered that on the fanpage "Hoang Huong - Meli Pharmaceuticals", the above individual continued to appear in a video advertising health protection foods Morimon Horse Bone Extract Powder, Hoat Huyet Gold HH, Tuyen Tien Liet Latimen, Da Stomach Gold HH, Thien Hoang Sa, Abi Hobecare, Y Xuan.

These products are announced and marketed by different companies. The advertising uses the name of the Central Institute for Drug Control, the content is misleading as medicine.

In an official dispatch dated May 30, the Food Safety Department requested the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information, as the agency managing social networks, to strengthen the review, verification and handling of violations.
