Cong Phuong reunites with coach Park Hang-seo

During a training trip in the North, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club had a friendly match with Bac Ninh Club. Here, striker Nguyen Cong Phuong had the opportunity to meet his old teacher, former head coach of the Vietnam national team Park Hang-seo.

From August 17, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club officially began a two-week training trip in the North to prepare for the new season. This is an important stage for coach Viet Thang and his team to improve their physical strength, improve their technical skills and tactics, and strengthen the team's cohesion. The friendly match with Bac Ninh Club is the first test in the journey of Cong Phuong and his teammates.

The highlight before the match was the friendly reunion between striker Nguyen Cong Phuong and coach Park Hang-seo (currently an advisor for Bac Ninh Club). The image of Mr. Park putting his arm around his former student and kindly asking about him brought back many memories. From the miracle of Thuong Chau in 2018 with U.23 Vietnam to the years of being attached to the national team, Cong Phuong has always been a pillar of the force built by Mr. Park. The Korean captain is considered the most successful coach in the history of Vietnamese football.

Coach Park Hang-seo was once considered the "inspiration" of a golden generation of players, helping Vietnamese football reach the continental level. Cong Phuong, along with Quang Hai, Xuan Truong, Van Hau... are the names closely associated with that series of brilliant successes.

In the friendly match on August 20, Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club lost 1-2 to Bac Ninh Club. Notably, Cong Phuong and Xuan Truong did not play. It is known that Cong Phuong caught a cold due to the weather, so he was given a break to recover his health. Meanwhile, Tran Minh Vuong participated in this match.

Truong Tuoi Dong Nai Club will continue training in the North until the end of August. Coach Nguyen Viet Thang's team will have two more friendly matches before returning to their headquarters, ready for the new season.

In Vietnam, Mr. Park Hang-seo is currently an advisor for Bac Ninh Club. After leaving the Vietnam national team in early 2023, Mr. Park will only serve as an advisor and run an international football academy named after him in Hanoi .

During his 5 years working in Vietnam, Coach Park Hang-seo has achieved great success with the 2018 AFF Cup championship, a ticket to the quarter-finals of the 2019 Asian Cup and the 3rd qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup with the Vietnam team, bringing the U.23 Vietnam team to the final of the 2018 U.23 Asian Cup, winning 2 gold medals at the 2019 and 2022 SEA Games, helping the Vietnam Olympic team reach the semi-finals of the 18th ASIAD.
