Ferrari SA Aperta - extremely rare supercar in Grigio Silverstone color

Ferrari SA Aperta limited to 80 units to celebrate Pininfarina's 80th anniversary. This is the only Grigio Silverstone and Cioccolato interior in the US.

Celebrating the long-standing relationship between Ferrari and Pininfarina and the designer’s 80th anniversary, the Ferrari SA Aperta was introduced at the 2010 Paris Salon by then-president Luca di Montezemolo. Ferrari produced just 80 SA Apertas, one for each year since Pininfarina’s founding.

“SA” stands for Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina (the son and grandson of company founder Battista “Pinin” Farina, respectively). Meanwhile, Aperta is a self-explanatory name, referring to the convertible body, which means “open” in Italian.

Based on the 599 GTB Fiorano (Tipo F141), this two-seater roadster features a revised 5,999cc 65-degree V-12 engine and six-speed F1 Superfast transmission from the limited edition 599 GTO. With 661 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 620 Nm of torque at 6,500 rpm, the performance is impressive.

Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes just 3.6 seconds, while the top speed reaches 325 km/h. However, this is not simply a 599 GTB convertible. The SA Aperta's ground clearance is 100 mm lower than the standard version, the car is equipped with a thicker rear anti-roll bar and a refined active damping system.

The car also gets unique 20-inch five-spoke wheels, using 245/35 ZR20 tires at the front and 305/35 ZR20 tires at the rear, along with carbon ceramic brakes for optimal stopping power. However, the SA Aperta's configuration is softer than the GTO, as Ferrari believes the car is not a lap time hunter.

Aesthetically, the SA Aperta has a more raked windshield than the 599, and the GTB's signature anti-roll bars are replaced by aerodynamic fins integrated into the twin anti-roll bars.

At the front, larger cooling ducts in the front bumper distinguish the SA Aperta from the closed-top version. The rear bumper and carbon fiber sills have also been redesigned. Maranello engineers have ensured that the convertible retains the rigidity and weight gain of the 17 kg GTB.

Of those, about a third are believed to be destined for the U.S. market. Furthermore, this one is believed to be the only U.S.-spec SA Aperta finished in the global Grigio Silverstone color and Cioccolato interior.

According to the accompanying window sticker, this SA Aperta was assigned to Ferrari Quebec, even though the car was built for the US market and delivered new to California.

In addition to the rare and attractive color, the car is equipped with a variety of options including: Alcantara carpets, leather upholstery for the seat backs, Cioccolato leather for the upper dashboard and steering wheel, heat-insulated windshield, iPod connectivity, as well as front and rear parking sensors. Underscoring the grand touring character of the SA Aperta, the car is also equipped with a Schedoni luggage set and vest bag.

The car spent most of its time in California, before being shipped to its second owner in Florida. It has now traveled just under 3,350 miles (5,391 km) since leaving the factory. It also has the original window decals, manuals, hardtop with roll bars, car cover, and luggage set mentioned.

The most recent service was performed by Ferrari of Palm Beach in May 2025. RM Sotheby's is offering this extremely rare 2011 Ferrari SA Aperta in a unique Grigio Silverstone color with a Cioccolato interior. The estimated price is $2 million, equivalent to VND 50.8 billion.
