In its 7th year, the Festival brought special emotions to former players, most of whom have been involved in the flow of Vietnamese football for decades, including famous veterans such as Ho Thanh Cang, Luu Kim Hoang, Nguyen Hoang Minh, Hua Hien Triet, Duong Van Tha, Tran Vu, Nguyen Dinh Tho, Dao Nguyen Bao, Huynh Van Anh, Nguyen Van Tam, Phan Cong Thin, Le Khac Chinh, Vu Ba Dong, Hoa Manh Hung, Tran Binh Su,...
VFF awarded 40 "For the development of Vietnamese football" medals to former players to recognize and honor their contributions to Vietnamese football activities.
Every year, we have the opportunity to gather together, so everyone shakes hands and greets each other. Many former players who could not attend due to old age and poor health were also updated by their teammates and shared photos of the reunion. Many former players have now passed away, but there are also many faces who have just retired from their playing careers and joined the Former Players Association to join hands to inspire and share passion for football for young players, notably the presence of former national women's team players such as Dang Thi Kieu Trinh, Quach Thanh Mai, Dao Thi Mien, Le Thi Thuong, etc.
According to VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi, the Vietnam Former Football Players Festival has become a beautiful tradition. Not only is it a place for former players to exchange and recall memories of the glorious past, an opportunity to show gratitude and honor generations and faces who once contributed to the development of the country's football, the Festival is also an opportunity for former players to spread their passion and love for football to the young generations of Vietnamese players today. With that spirit and good meaning, through the bridge of the Vietnam Former Football Players Association, VFF believes that the connection between former players, VFF and young generations of players will become increasingly closer, contributing to creating motivation to promote the continued development of the country's football.

Mr. Tran Van Thanh - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Former Football Players added: “Every time the festival is held, it leaves a very good impression in the hearts of former players. Everyone tries to live a healthy life, a useful life for their family and society, and at the same time become an example for the younger generation of players to follow. Through the matches at the Festival, former players seem to relive their youth, recalling a glorious past. I think this is a very meaningful and humane activity that has spread to all parts of the country. We also hope that the VFF, localities, and philanthropists will join hands to support and ease the difficulties of former players of previous generations.”
After the opening ceremony, there were 3 friendly matches between former players of Truong Son, Hong Ha and Cuu Long teams. The result was that Cuu Long team won 3-1 against Hong Ha, Hong Ha team lost 0-1 to Truong Son team and Cuu Long team won 2-0 against Truong Son team. However, the results of winning and losing did not mean much to the former players, because the greatest joy for them was still meeting each other to learn from the past, to go out on the field and breathe in the smell of the field. In particular, former famous player Ho Thanh Cang, who turned 80 this year, still showed off his talent to the admiration of everyone.
