Ford Ranger Super Duty 2026 - "dinosaur" pickup truck sets launch date

Super Duty is the name reserved for Ford's heavy-duty pickup trucks like the F-250 and F-350. These models will have superior size and performance compared to the standard F-150 and Ranger.

The American automaker has confirmed that the new 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty will be unveiled on April 4, but we will have to wait until 2026 to see this more powerful model in dealerships. So far, Ford has only released a few details about the Ranger Super Duty version.

This is the first time Ford has expanded its Super Duty lineup beyond the F-Series. Shortly after Ford released the first teaser of the upcoming Ford Ranger Super Duty pickup truck in Australia, a camouflaged prototype of the powerful vehicle has been spotted testing on US soil.

The "Super Duty" badge promises a trio of upgrades, including improved towing capacity, expanded cargo capacity, and better off-road capability, all wrapped up in a tougher, more rugged look.

The prototype in question has a slightly different cabin, chassis and front-end configuration compared to current Ranger versions.

Accordingly, this version will have prominent extended fenders, a redesigned grille and a reshaped hood, all contributing to a more aggressive and powerful appearance.

The 2026 Ford Ranger Super Duty pickup truck's wheels are also thick and durable and will likely have 8 fixing bolts - previously only available on the Ford F-Series. The wheel size also seems to have been increased from 16 inches on the regular Ranger to 18 inches.

It comes with 275/70 R18 all-terrain tires that are 7% larger than the 255/65 normally used on the high-end Ranger. Ford claims the Ranger Super Duty will outperform the mid-size vehicle segment with a towing capacity of 4,500 kg. This figure is on par with its big brother, the F-150.

The gross vehicle mass (GVM) has also increased to 4,500 kg and the gross combined mass (GCM) is 8,000 kg, meaning this Ranger is built to tow heavy loads. Ford has yet to reveal the powertrain of the Ranger Super Duty, but it is expected that this model will receive upgrades to the transmission, suspension and chassis.
