Technology and digital ministers from the Group of Seven (G7) nations agreed on April 30 to promote the “responsible” use of artificial intelligence (AI) as countries seek to capitalize on rapidly developing technologies like ChatGPT.

These technologies are said to have the potential to be highly beneficial, but raise concerns about privacy and the risk of abuse.
In a joint statement issued after the conclusion of a two-day conference in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, the G7 Ministers also affirmed the need to establish an international agreement to enhance the free flow of data across borders.
The joint statement affirmed the G7's determination to cooperate against threats, as well as its commitment to building secure cyber infrastructure to support emerging and developing countries, and promoting cooperation to improve the connectivity of undersea fiber optic cables.
