Recently, the Charmast brand announced a recall of nearly 500,000 backup chargers sold on the Amazon e-commerce platform due to the risk of fire and explosion.
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said it has received 44 reports of Charmast power banks blistering, melting, catching fire, overheating or smoking, including four users who suffered burns or blisters.

On its part, the Charmast brand also confirmed that the lithium-ion battery in the backup charger model number W1056 has the potential to overheat, increasing the risk of fire and causing burns to users. In this situation, the company calls on those who own this battery model to stop using it immediately and register for a recall to receive a refund.
The recall only applies to the Model W1056 chargers sold on Amazon between December 2018 and September 2024. These chargers cost between $14 and $25 and come in a variety of colors including black, green, blue, mint, pink, and white.
Charmast has provided detailed instructions for consumers to check and submit a product recall request. The steps include: Prepare proof of purchase, order number on Amazon; Take a photo of the product, clearly showing the W1056 model on the back, along with the name and date written in permanent marker on the device. Users can register a recall request via the online form or contact Charmast support email directly.
Charmast commits to refunding affected customers after verifying the request. The specific processing time will be notified via email based on the number of requests received each month.
Charmast representatives also emphasized that consumer safety is always the top priority. This product recall is not only to minimize risks but also a commitment to the company's responsibility to customers.
