The patient is Ms. D.TKH, residing in Tam Hiep Hamlet, Xuan Hiep Commune, Xuan Loc District. According to information from her family, in the early morning of the same day, while sleeping, Ms. H. suddenly felt a sharp pain in her right ear, suspecting that an insect had crawled into her ear.
Her family initially tried to treat the problem by putting diluted salt water in her ear to force the insect out, but this method was unsuccessful. Ms. H. was then taken to Xuan Loc District Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Through examination and endoscopy of the ear canal, the doctor discovered that a beetle had burrowed deep into the inner ear canal, near the eardrum. The ear canal was now congested. After using a specialized medical solution to suffocate the insect, the doctor performed the procedure and successfully removed the insect from the patient's ear.
Doctor Kieu Minh Thuyet, an ENT specialist at Xuan Loc District Medical Center, said: “The size of this insect is quite large, about 1cm. When it enters the narrow ear canal, the insect is almost unable to turn its head out. Fortunately, the patient was brought in on time, so the foreign body did not cause damage to the eardrum.”
Currently, the patient's health is stable, with no complications recorded after minor surgery.
