Accelerate your revision and strengthen your test-taking skills.

The entrance exam for 10th grade in Thanh Hoa for the 2026-2027 school year will take place on June 5th and 6th. Currently, the atmosphere of preparation at junior high schools is more urgent than ever. From classrooms to libraries, from schools to online study groups, 9th-grade students are pouring all their energy into this important first exam of their lives.

This year, the 10th grade entrance exam in Thanh Hoa continues to receive significant attention due to the large number of candidates, while the number of places available in public high schools is limited. This makes the competition for places in top schools even more intense.

According to observations at many junior high schools from the lowlands to the mountainous areas of Thanh Hoa province, the schedules of 9th-grade students are almost completely full all day. In addition to regular review sessions, many students proactively develop study plans at home, taking advantage of every spare moment to systematize knowledge, practice exam questions, and hone their test-taking skills.

At Dong Tho Secondary School (Ham Rong Ward), exam preparation classes are regularly held, focusing on three subjects: Mathematics, Literature, and English. Teachers categorize students according to their abilities to provide appropriate reinforcement methods. Students with knowledge gaps receive additional support on basic topics, while the group of above-average and excellent students focus on practicing advanced exam questions and honing their skills in handling application-based questions.

Nguyen Tan Phat, a 9th-grade student, shared: “The pressure is quite high because this is an important exam that will determine my learning environment during my high school years. I am trying to review each type of question, paying particular attention to common mistakes that can lead to lost points. My teachers also frequently encourage me, which gives me more motivation to try harder.”

Not only students, but also parents are closely involved during this period. Many families proactively arrange their children's schedules to create a quiet environment for them to concentrate on studying. According to many parents, the most important thing right now is to help their children maintain a stable mindset and avoid adding extra pressure before the exams.

At Ba Thuoc Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Principal Nguyen Thi Dao said that this week teachers will review all the key knowledge points and provide specific guidance on skills and methods for students to complete assignments.

“After completing the review program at school, subject teachers continue to support and answer students' questions through Zalo groups. In addition, students are also reminded to maintain their health and stable mental state so that they can enter the exam with confidence and achieve the best results,” Ms. Dao shared.

Teachers and students at Son Dien Secondary School are rushing to prepare for exams in the final week.

At Son Dien Secondary School, Principal Pham Ngoc Thanh said that right from the beginning of the second semester, the school had developed a review plan suitable for the abilities of each group of students, focusing on consolidating foundational knowledge and practicing test-taking skills.

"Based on years of experience, students are very susceptible to psychological pressure during the period leading up to exams. Therefore, in addition to reviewing knowledge, teachers also regularly encourage and guide students on how to allocate study time effectively, maintain good health, and have a relaxed state of mind before the exam," Mr. Thanh said.

Ms. Pham Thuy Giang, a math teacher at the school, shared: “In the final stages, teachers focus on helping students review key problem types, especially those where they easily lose points. We also guide them on exam presentation skills, time management, and maintaining a calm demeanor to achieve the best results.”

To help students achieve good results, many junior high schools have developed scientific review plans right from the beginning of the second semester. The exam review content closely follows the structure of the sample exam, while also strengthening practical skills and time management during the exam.

Maintain good health and a stable mental state before the exam day.

Besides reinforcing knowledge, many schools also place special emphasis on providing psychological support to students before exams.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dao, Principal of Ba Thuoc Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, said that in the period leading up to the exam, students should not study broadly but should systematize key knowledge. For compulsory subjects, students need to pay close attention to reading comprehension, social commentary, and how to develop ideas coherently.

"Surveys show that in Literature, many students have the knowledge but their presentation is not good, resulting in regrettable loss of points. Teachers always remind students to practice writing concisely, focusing on the main points, and allocating time appropriately," Ms. Dao said.

According to the principal, in Mathematics, students focus on practicing problems related to equations, geometry, and real-world scenarios. Meanwhile, in English, teachers encourage students to practice more exam questions, expand their vocabulary, and improve their reading comprehension skills.

Besides reviewing knowledge, schools also pay special attention to psychological factors. Many schools organize psychological counseling and provide guidance on stress reduction skills before exams. Homeroom teachers regularly communicate with parents to understand students' feelings and offer timely encouragement when students show signs of anxiety or pressure.

During the "final sprint" phase, many students tend to study late into the night and continuously in the hope of improving their results. However, teachers warn that overstudying can be counterproductive, leading to fatigue and reduced learning ability.

Mr. Nguyen Hung Trang, Head of the Science and Natural Sciences Department at Dong Tho Secondary School, believes that students should create a reasonable schedule, alternating between studying and resting. "In the final days before the exam, students shouldn't learn too much new knowledge but should focus on consolidating key content and practicing with appropriate difficulty levels to build confidence," Mr. Trang shared.

Many education experts also recommend that parents avoid putting pressure on their children by setting overly high expectations. Timely encouragement, proper nutrition, and a relaxed family atmosphere will help students have a more positive mindset when entering the examination room.

In many junior high schools in Thanh Hoa, exam support activities have been implemented early. Youth union members, teachers, and parents are working together to assist students with study materials, transportation, and psychological counseling. These activities contribute to helping candidates feel more confident before the important exam.

Despite the immense pressure, many students remain optimistic. Ha Thi Le Na, a 9th-grade student from Ba Thuoc Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, said she set realistic goals and strived to do well in each subject. “I think the most important thing is to stay calm, read the questions carefully, and make sure of the answers I know. I also try to go to bed early to keep my spirits high before the exam,” Le Na said.

To ensure the 10th grade entrance exam is conducted safely and in accordance with regulations, the Thanh Hoa Department of Education and Training has requested all educational institutions in the province to implement comprehensive plans regarding facilities, exam supervision, and safety throughout the examination process. Local authorities have also intensified efforts to review the conditions for serving the exam, creating maximum convenience for candidates participating in the exam.
