The Edge 540 and Edge 840 both feature compact 2.6-inch color displays and feature controls that work seamlessly in any riding environment. The Edge 840 also features a super-responsive touchscreen. No matter where your next ride takes you, the Edge 540 and Edge 840 deliver impressive battery life. The Edge 540 and Edge 840 integrate advanced training metrics and navigation tools to help riders perform at their best. Firstbeat Analytics™ provides insights such as VO2 max, training status and volume, recovery time, and more to help users understand how their body is responding to their current training efforts.

Paired with a compatible Garmin smartwatch, riders get a more comprehensive and in-depth look at their overall physical and mental health with Pulse Ox3 tracking, Body Battery™, enhanced sleep and sleep scoring… While on the move, Edge 540 and Edge 840 allow every rider to measure their body’s endurance when adapting to different temperature and altitude environments, and set up notifications for when to refuel or rehydrate.

In addition, advanced cycling metrics also provide users with insights into mountain biking performance such as jump count and jump distance (Jump metric), track difficulty (Grit metric) and rider speed control (Flow metric) to track key parameters during each ride.

For on-the-go training, the Edge 540 and Edge 840 easily pair with an indoor smart trainer so you can ride year-round, no matter the weather. Whether you’re riding indoors or outdoors, users can take advantage of the Garmin Connect app to create and send courses to their Edge device, view all of their ride stats, record personal bests, see training trends and more.

Additionally, users who want to customize their cycling computer in their own way can easily download any data fields, apps and widgets from the Connect IQ Store smartphone app store to their Edge device.
