On the afternoon of April 6, at the press conference for the first quarter of 2023, Ms. Bui Thanh Nguyen, Chief Inspector of Bac Lieu province, said that she had extended the deadline for compliance with the law on purchasing medical equipment at the provincial Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital.

According to Ms. Nguyen, due to the complexity of the inspection content, the inspection process requires researching and comparing a lot of information, working with many related units, so it takes a lot of time.
Most medical equipment is imported from abroad, so determining the origin, source, and value of imported goods requires contacting many agencies and units outside the province, which takes a lot of time and is difficult.
Furthermore, the inspection period is at the end of 2022. Therefore, the Provincial Inspectorate requested an extension of the inspection period and was approved by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
“Currently, the Inspection Team has completed the inspection period and is synthesizing data and reporting the inspection results. After that, the Provincial Inspectorate will submit to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for comments to carry out the next steps and implement the inspection conclusions in accordance with regulations,” Ms. Nguyen added.
Previously, due to many equipment purchases being "covered" for a long time, on November 28, 2022, at the Bac Lieu Department of Health, the Inspectorate announced the decision of the Chief Inspector of Bac Lieu province on an unscheduled inspection of law enforcement for the project to purchase medical equipment for the Tuberculosis Specialized Hospital (now Bac Lieu Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital), the inspection period is 45 days.
Bac Lieu Province Tuberculosis and Lung Disease Hospital is invested by the Department of Health (headquartered in Vinh Trach Commune, Bac Lieu City), with a budget of over 200 billion VND. The hospital consists of 3 areas, with a scale of 1 ground floor, 2 floors with 100 beds. The hospital is currently in operation.
