* On January 31, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang signed Official Dispatch No. 12/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister, aiming to strengthen prevention and strict handling of cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of animals, animal products, livestock breeds and aquatic products across the border into Vietnam.
The dispatch pointed out that the smuggling and illegal transportation of buffalo, cows, pigs, poultry, and lobsters across the border into Vietnam has been complicated recently. In particular, the southern provinces bordering Cambodia and Laos are particularly sensitive areas, with a high risk of infection and spread of dangerous diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, lumpy skin disease, African swine fever, blue ear disease, highly pathogenic avian influenza and other infectious diseases. This can endanger the domestic livestock industry and people's health.
The Prime Minister has requested the Chairmen of the People's Committees of provinces and cities, ministers and the Head of the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods (National Steering Committee 389) to continue directing and seriously implementing the Prime Minister's instructions.
In particular, measures to prevent smuggling and illegal transportation of animals and animal products need to be strictly controlled. At the same time, it is necessary to develop sustainable livestock farming and ensure food supply.
In addition, it is necessary to rectify and handle negative behaviors related to the production, import and customs clearance of goods at border and land gates. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on preventing and strictly handling cases of smuggling and illegal transportation of buffalo, cows, pigs, poultry and lobster breeds across the border into Vietnam.
