The South continues to experience a surge in prices.
In contrast to the North, today's live pig prices in the South continue to show an upward trend. Today, Binh Duong and Ca Mau provinces both adjusted their prices up to 82,000 VND/kg, while Dong Thap reached 81,000 VND/kg.

The Central and Western regions of Vietnam remained stable during the Nguyen Dynasty.
Meanwhile, the Central and Central Highlands regions witnessed stable pork prices, remaining within the range of 75,000 - 82,000 VND/kg. Lam Dong and Binh Thuan currently have the highest prices in the region, reaching 82,000 VND/kg, while the lowest price of 75,000 VND/kg was recorded in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, and Khanh Hoa.
Proposal to increase price stabilization
In response to the rising price of live pigs, Vissan Company – a participant in the pork price stabilization program in Ho Chi Minh City – recently submitted a proposal to the Department of Finance and the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City to increase prices.
According to Mr. Phan Van Dung, Deputy General Director of Vissan, the company adjusted pork prices from March 3rd when live pig prices reached 74,000 VND/kg. However, with the current upward trend, live pig prices have reached 79,000 - 81,000 VND/kg, nearly 6.8% higher than the previous stable level, putting the company in a difficult position in terms of capital preservation.
Amidst a scarcity of live pig supply, Vissan anticipates that live pig prices are likely to continue rising and remain high. Therefore, the company proposes increasing the stabilized prices of pork products by 6-7%, effective from March 17th after approval. According to the proposal, the price of pork shoulder and armpit meat will increase to 167,000 VND/kg, pork leg to 141,000 VND/kg, and lean thigh and shoulder meat to 188,000 VND/kg.
