Latest pig price news
Currently, supply and demand in the pig market are in a state of balance. The epidemic is well controlled, domestic consumption remains stable, and the psychology of pig farmers is positive. In the short term, the market has not shown signs of strong fluctuations. If there are no unexpected factors related to the epidemic or fluctuations in input costs, the pig price level is likely to continue to be stable in the coming weeks.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang province has just launched a peak campaign to combat, prevent and repel smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods and infringement of intellectual property rights in the agricultural sector. From May 15 to present, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Bac Giang province) has coordinated with the Economic Police Department (Bac Giang Provincial Police) to inspect two animal product collection facilities in Cao Thuong town (Tan Yen district) and one facility in Minh Duc commune (Viet Yen town).
During the inspection, the authorities discovered 1,690 kg of animal products (pork bones, pork, etc.) at the three establishments that had turned dark black and emitted a foul odor. The owners of the establishments admitted that all of the above products originated from dead pigs that were purchased and sold on the market. At the same time, the inspection team also discovered a car transporting a dead pig, weighing about 80 kg, without internal organs, purchased from a neighboring province.
The inspection team drew up a record and handled violations according to the law against the owners of three facilities collecting and transporting dead pigs with a total fine of 26.5 million VND, and forced the destruction of all violating products.
According to the Environmental Agriculture newspaper, BAF Vietnam Agriculture Joint Stock Company aims to reach a scale of 10 million commercial pigs by 2030. To realize the plan, the company plans to implement two multi-level farming projects, in strategic cooperation with Muyuan Group - the world's largest unit in this field. The project in Tan Chau (Tay Ninh) has a scale of 64,000 sows, producing 1.6 million commercial pigs/year; while the project in Dong Phu (Binh Phuoc) includes 20,000 sows, producing 500,000 pigs.
Mr. Pham Kim Dang, Deputy Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, said that this model is completely legal and in line with the State's policy on promoting research, application and transfer of science and technology. However, he warned that welfare and livestock density need to be implemented appropriately for each region and province, ensuring reasonable distances between farms and residential areas and other areas. If the closed environment is not strictly controlled, it will potentially pose a risk of spreading disease.
Mr. Dang also emphasized the importance of controlling the slaughtering, processing and traceability processes of products, while ensuring a standard waste treatment system and developing a clear consumption and export plan for output products.
