Gia Lai promotes investment attraction in forestry sector

On February 23, Hieu Phuc Gia Lai Joint Stock Company was granted a decision approving the investment policy for a production forest planting project in Dak Djrang commune (Mang Yang district). The project has a total investment of 8 billion VND.

Ms. Truong Thi Thuy - Director of Hieu Phuc Gia Lai Joint Stock Company - shared: "The project is implemented at plot 3, Sub-area 496, Dak Djrang commune with an area of ​​50 hectares. What we appreciate is that we have received maximum support from the local government, so the investment procedures are very favorable. We are currently preparing documents and related procedures to lease the land."

Similarly, on March 7, the production forest planting project in Ia Khuol commune (Chu Pah district) was granted an investment approval decision by the Provincial People's Committee for Phu Vinh Gia Lai Agriculture and Forestry Company Limited.

Mr. Vo Duc Hau - Director of the Company said: “Our project has a total investment of 14 billion VND, implemented in plots 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of Sub-area 205, Ia Khuol commune with a total area of ​​over 190 hectares, of which 100 hectares are planted with perennial trees such as rosewood, star... and over 90 hectares are planted with raw materials such as acacia, eucalyptus... Perennial trees are harvested after about 12 years, while raw materials are about 6 years. In 2025 alone, we will plant about 50 hectares in advance, half of which are perennial trees, half of which are raw materials. We are currently preparing documents to complete land lease procedures”.

Another project also approved by the Provincial People's Committee is the production forest planting project in Ia Rsai commune, Krong Pa district with a total investment of 10 billion VND, invested by Thanh Danh Company Limited. The project is implemented in plots 2, 6 of Sub-zone 1290; plots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 of Sub-zone 1300 and plots 1, 2, 3 of Sub-zone 1301.

Among the total number of forest planting projects in the province up to this point, many investors have completed the forest planting plan, such as: Lam Khang Investment and Development Joint Stock Company planted 175 hectares of forest in Ia Ka commune (Chu Pah district); Viet Stone Gia Lai Trading Company Limited planted 540 hectares of production forest in Ia Tul commune (Ia Pa district); Minh Phuoc Trading and Service Company Limited planted more than 561 hectares of forest in Ia Hdreh commune (Krong Pa district), 373 hectares of production forest in Chu A Thai commune (Phu Thien district)...

Gia Lai currently has a total land area planned for forestry development of more than 723 thousand hectares; forested land area is 631,281 hectares (of which natural forest is more than 478,820 hectares, planted forest is more than 152,470 hectares); forest cover and industrial woody plants reach 47%.

With 3 afforestation projects just granted investment policy by the Provincial People's Committee in the first quarter of 2025, the total number of afforestation projects in the province has increased to 16 projects with a total registered investment capital of more than 312 billion VND.

Our province is also the locality with the largest forest area in the Central Highlands, accounting for 25.2% of the total area of ​​the region and 4.3% of the total area of ​​the country. Currently, the entire province has nearly 3,500 hectares of certified sustainable forests, with 16/34 forest owners having approved sustainable forest management plans.

Mr. Luu Trung Nghia - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment - said: "The Department regularly monitors and urges localities and units to inspect and remove land-related obstacles, creating favorable conditions for investors and enterprises to cooperate in investment, joint ventures, and afforestation. At the same time, we continue to coordinate with relevant departments and branches to remove policy difficulties, improve the investment environment to call for and attract more investment projects in the field of afforestation".
