The price of live pigs nationwide generally remained in the range of 62,000 - 70,000 VND/kg.
In the North, after reaching a peak of 71,000 VND/kg earlier, live pig prices have started to cool down. In Hung Yen, live pig prices decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, to 70,000 VND/kg. Provinces and cities such as Tuyen Quang, Bac Ninh, Hanoi , Ninh Binh, and Phu Tho all saw a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg, bringing the purchase price down to 69,000 VND/kg.
In the provinces and cities of Cao Bang , Thai Nguyen, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, and Lao Cai, live pig prices continue to remain stable at the highest level in the region, 70,000 VND/kg. The lowest price in the region is currently in Lai Chau at 68,000 VND/kg.
In the Central and Central Highlands regions, the market also recorded a downward trend in some key provinces. Live pig prices in Thanh Hoa and Nghe An both decreased by 1,000 VND/kg, trading at 69,000 VND/kg. In Ha Tinh , the price retreated to 67,000 VND/kg after a decrease of 1,000 VND/kg.
In contrast to the downward trend in the North, the Southern market was relatively calm on the morning of December 26th. The only fluctuation was recorded in Ca Mau, with an increase of 1,000 VND/kg, reaching a price of 63,000 VND/kg.
Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City continue to be the two localities with the highest live pig prices in the Southern region, maintaining at 65,000 VND/kg. Tay Ninh maintains the price at 64,000 VND/kg, while An Giang and Can Tho remain stable at 62,000 VND/kg. Currently, live pig prices in the South range from 62,000 to 65,000 VND/kg.
The cooling down of live pig prices in some areas is a sign of technical adjustment after a long period of rapid increases. However, due to the continued high demand during the year-end holiday season, the overall price level of live pigs is not expected to fall significantly and will remain at a level that is beneficial to farmers.
