Domestic rice and paddy prices fluctuate in opposite directions, transactions remain slow
In the Mekong Delta region, the rice market today is diversified. According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of OM 18 rice (fresh) decreased by 100 VND/kg, to 6,000 - 6,100 VND/kg; while Nang Hoa 9 rice continued to increase by 200 VND, reaching 6,000 - 6,200 VND/kg. Other rice varieties such as Dai Thom 8, IR 50404, OM 5451 and OM 380 kept stable prices from 5,700 - 6,200 VND/kg.
Rice transactions in many localities are still slow. In An Giang, Dong Thap, Hau Giang or the old Long An, traders are buying sparingly, farmers are holding high prices. Particularly in Tay Ninh and the new An Giang, some areas have recorded more active trading activities of OM18 and OM5451 rice.
Exported raw rice prices increase slightly, while domestic rice prices remain stable.
In contrast to paddy prices, raw rice export prices today had mixed developments. OM 18 rice increased by VND100 to VND9,600 - 9,700/kg, while IR 504 rice decreased by VND100 to VND7,600 - 7,700/kg. CL 555, OM 380, OM 5451 rice maintained stable prices from VND7,850 - 9,150/kg.
In the retail market, the price of rice for ordinary people remained unchanged. Regular rice fluctuated between VND13,000 and VND14,000 per kilogram, while premium rice varieties such as Nang Nhen, Huong Lai, Thai and Japanese rice remained at VND20,000 and VND28,000 per kilogram. The glutinous rice segment was also stable, with IR 4625 glutinous rice fluctuating between VND7,300 and VND9,700 per kilogram.
By-products continue to be stable: broken rice 7,300 - 7,400 VND/kg, bran 8,100 - 8,250 VND/kg, rice husk 1,000 - 1,150 VND/kg.

Rice export prices remain stable, Vietnam plans to sign agreement with Indonesia
In the international market, Vietnam's rice export prices continue to be stable. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 5% broken rice remains at $382/ton, 25% broken rice at $357/ton and 100% broken rice at $317/ton.
Meanwhile, Vietnam is moving towards signing a long-term rice trade deal with Indonesia after exports to the market fell by 97% in the first half of the year, Reuters reported, following a meeting between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at the BRICS Summit in Brazil.
Although Indonesia remains a major customer of Vietnamese rice, it imported only 19,000 tonnes in the first half of 2025, an unusually low level due to high domestic inventories. The Vietnamese government hopes the new agreement will help expand the market, stabilize output and increase competitiveness as Indonesia raises its domestic rice output expectations to 33.8 million tonnes by 2026.

Summary
On July 10, domestic rice prices were slightly divergent, reflecting the tug-of-war between supply and demand and cautious market sentiment. Meanwhile, Vietnam is actively promoting strategic export channels, typically the trade agreement it is about to sign with Indonesia - an important step to maintain its position in the context of increasingly fierce competition.
