The domestic rice market on June 2nd continued to maintain stability as the supply from the early summer-autumn crop was still limited. According to observations, trading activity in key areas remained relatively quiet, mainly due to the persistently high price of fresh paddy, causing traders to be cautious in their purchasing.
Fluctuations in fresh rice prices in the Mekong Delta region.
In key rice-producing regions, the price of fresh paddy rice generally remained unchanged compared to the previous trading session. Notably, only IR 50404 paddy rice recorded a slight increase.

| type of rice | Purchase price (VND/kg) |
|---|---|
| OM 18 | 6,400 - 6,500 |
| Fragrance Channel 8 | 6,400 - 6,500 |
| OM 5451 | 5,700 - 5,800 |
| IR 50404 | 5,500 - 5,600 |
| OM 34 | 5,100 - 5,200 |
In Tay Ninh, the harvest is still sporadic. Meanwhile, in Dong Thap, traders are only buying in moderation as many households still expect higher prices. Although supply has started to increase in areas such as An Giang , Can Tho, Ca Mau, and Vinh Long, it has not yet put significant downward pressure on prices.
Prices of raw and finished rice remain stable.
Similar to the paddy market, prices of raw and finished rice products have not seen significant fluctuations. Export businesses continue to maintain a stable pace of transactions based on order demand.
- Raw rice prices: OM 5451 variety ranges from 9,500 - 9,600 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 at 9,200 - 9,400 VND/kg; IR 504 at 8,600 - 8,700 VND/kg.
- Finished rice: IR 504 maintains a price of 10,750 - 10,900 VND/kg.
- Retail rice prices: Nang Nhen rice maintains the highest price at 28,000 VND/kg; high-quality rice varieties (Huong Lai, Japanese rice, Nang Hoa) are commonly priced from 21,000 - 22,000 VND/kg.
Export market: Vietnamese rice maintains its position.
On the world market, Vietnamese rice continues to maintain its competitiveness, especially in the fragrant rice segment. Jasmine rice is currently offered at around 528-532 USD/ton, while 5% broken rice ranges from 505-520 USD/ton.
Compared to other major exporting countries, Vietnamese 5% broken rice is priced higher than that of Thailand (US$440-444/ton) and India (US$342-346/ton). This indicates that the quality and demand for Vietnamese specialty rice varieties remain strong.
In the short term, the rice market is likely to remain stable. The price trend will become clearer when the summer-autumn crop enters its peak harvesting period in the southern provinces and cities in the coming time.
